Laptop mining question

So first off I will say I know that laptops aren't the optimal mining rig, the purpose of it is solely that I'm allowed to bring it to work (free energy usage) and I'm also in need of a new laptop.

2 birds one stone sort of speak.

Anyways I was browsing around and trying to find the best laptop pricewise/ROI-Mining usage.

This is the best prebuilt one I've found currently that seems to have the best cpu/gpu for the price,

Gtx 1060 and a intel i7700 for $1500 alternatively thinking it may be worth it to spend an extra 300 for the 1070 upgrade.

I was browsing a few other options on newegg and found a better version thats done by MSI however it seems to have alot of issues and going to ibuypower or customizing an alienware is a little to expensive.

(I mine cryptonote, so not expecting a full roi)

Mainly, does anyone know of a better mining laptop that is around the $1500 price range and has a warranty (going to abuse that every half year or so)

You cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin with a PC by itself. The fastest PCs are 1000 times slower than the average modern ASIC and 500 times less efficient. So laptop or PC makes no difference, you cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin.

If you're talking about altcoin mining though, that's a different story.

A laptop architecture is bottlenecked to what a mining rig with 5x more gpu power can do and an asic with 50x more processing power that ANY LAPTOP on the market or ever created will be able to do.
You will be mining in 1 day what something else can do in 5 minutes.
So you will be 35 by the time you you even get 1 btc mining with a laptop no matter how powerful,new or expensive it is.
So tell us, is that worth an explanation to you yet?
If not then think of it this way.
Workstation for 3d animation compared to Apple II doing Draw. There is no comparison there man!

A laptop architecture is bottlenecked to what a mining rig with 5x more gpu power can do and an asic with 50x more processing power that ANY LAPTOP on the market or ever created will be able to do.
You will be mining in 1 day what something else can do in 5 minutes.
So you will be 35 by the time you you even get 1 btc mining with a laptop no matter how powerful,new or expensive it is.

I think you did not read the entire thread, I've said twice I'm not mining bitcoin.  I'm mining the cryptonotes; xmr, xdn, aeon etc.
It is asic resistant, it requires a cpu/gpu to mine so the power of those two items - which is why those two were specifically mentioned in the initial post - are the only items of concern for this mining.

You could get one of the external GPU mounts and run it like that. However, the inital cost of GPU+External will have you wait a while before you ROI

Are you sure that the 1060 in the laptop performs equals than the normal one? I've never tried.

That being said, go for the 1060, 300$ difference is way too much for the performance gain

you could kit out a portable case and setup where ever your laptop was going to be if you're just buying a few?
if its out in the open, with others trying to work i get why it wouldn't be suitable, but if its a matter of there's a spare room and you can place it there, i don't see why it'd be an issue.
plus $7 daily returns for a coffee/monero or two, that is after withdrawal and tx fees.

as for home use, yes, you'll end up in the negative forking out electricity expenses :/
only other thought is to save up for a larger rig and find a decent colo provider in a state where kWh are below 10 cents

Yeah itd be out in the open, also I wouldn't trust leaving it out of sight with my coworkers.  Its becoming a tricky thing given the circumstances lol
