While they are going to consider Bitcoin as a payment method, they even recognise it's asset-like qualities and seem to have a deeper understanding of Bitcoin.  It's very refreshing compared to, say, Indian politicians still thinking it might be a Ponzi scheme.

Japan is more friendly to pedestrians rather than using drive-thru, very friendly even when atm installed in places of tourist attractions like okinawa. Bitcoin need rationality to make it legalized because government so far seen only from bitcoin Ponzi and illegal trade.

Well it looks like an amazing way to promote bitcoin, even not legalizing bitcoin Japan is already mooving forward others countries, it will be nice to watch on tv some logo of bitcoins, hope new investors will come into crypto world.

This is very surprising because Japan has been investing in MUFG through government bank for projects virtual coins, and automatically all cryptocurrency forms be set equal. Japan has the highest salary standards in Asia, this will be positive reference to the surrounding country and even around the world.

Japan will surely accept bitcoin payments, Why? Because they are the one famous in technologies, industries, animation, military. They like to expand there knowledge more about bitcoins. At the-same time where did the "satoshis"  name came from anyway? Its in Japan of course! right? If Japan uses bitcoin in the next Olympics, That would be really great, promoting bitcoins to the world Teaching other people how to use them, Its like japan is one step ahead of us in terms of predicting the future.

This has already been in discussion for a while now and it definitely counts as a step in the right direction for bitcoin in Japan. The implementation taking place days from now is another great development, especially in Japan which we all know is always ahead in technology compared to its other Asian counterparts.

the first japan bill containing virtual currencies is expected to come on april which recognizes bitcoin as a method of payment.Although,it doesnot define bitcoin as a legal currency,it is still considered as a remarkable progress for bitcoin in japan.Hope, most of tourists who would go to japan to see 2020 olympics would be able to pay in bitcoins.

This is another major leap for bitcoin. First we have Switzerland who accepts bitcoin to be use as payment for government services and next is Japan which allows bitcoin to be used as a form of financial payment. Soon the Philippines will come into the picture when the bangko sentral ng Pilipinas have finished evaluating and will declare the use of bitcoin in the market. Bitcoin will be large after Japans acceptance let us wait for an increase in bitcoins value.

soon more countries will embrace bitcoin. japan, switzerland, philippines and other country are just on its first step in helping to spread the good of bitcoin. with this, bitcoins price will increase. and lucky those who have hold their coins right in the beginning.

I don't know whether they're idiots or they have millions of bitcoins under their control or do they own any hash power of the network?
People shouldn't get involved with bitcoin in national scale without them first being miners themselves.
If a country wants to build an economy based on bitcoin then they must have mining farms to avoid for example BU to mess up things and cause them huge losses.

you have your point mate but japan knows how to deal with btc and mining can't be a problem as they will make it possible for them mining or having their own farming, the technology from that place can compete and surely if they cater this process for the entire country it would be a big impact to this technology.

Well this is a good sign that one big country especially a Developed one has a chance to accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment. And you are right Tourist have now a chance not to convert their money in Yen and pay directly with Bitcoin. But the real question is if this pass how long will it last or will it be a mistake to Japan. But this will be a start for other countries to look in the situation of Bitcoin as well.

you are thinking about it wrong.
nobody is building an economy based on bitcoin, they just studied bitcoin and came to the conclusion that bitcoin IS a Currency! and then announced it as such.
and no you don't need to have mining power to do this.

It is really a big progress for bitcoin, Japan will be an example for other countries that may try and use bitcoin in their own countries. There are other countries that are really thinking to use these digital currency, but the thing is it has still many problems to deal with, especially these transactions which are really having a high fees and really slow confirms. And these bill about digital currency will be one of the reason why bitcoin will really give bitcoin a good price.

Japan is a really progressive country, I think they are the first country that declare these tona digital currency, other countries are just accepting them because many people are using it, but japan is on another level. Bitcoin will be more progressive after implementing this bill.

It seems to me that most people posting here don't really seems to know very much about Japan.   Japan hasn't been unfriendly to Bitcoin and there are even some BTC ATMs around Tokyo.   A lot Bitcoin events have happened in Japan, remember Mt. Gox?  (About 20 minutes from where I live.)

The problem in Japan isn't laws, the problem is the cost of power.   It has been getting better, but I'm still playing about $0.23 / kwh.   There will be some nodes setup and a lot of people will use Bitcoin but probably it will be curbed a bit because electrical power isn't cheap in Japan.

This is a great progress indeed for bitcoin. The potential of this digital currency is far from being over in fact it has unlimited potential to innovate further.
To sad for the people who chose to exchange their bitcoins to some altcoins.

This is only the beginning as more and more countries will start to adapt digital currency as they will see the potential in it.

Great news for bitcoin as Japan in the most advanced when it comes to technology and now as it has started using bitcoins now other countries will also soon start using bitcoin. No wonder why bitcoin is the world's number one crypto currency. Moreover like everyday we come across news which benefit bitcoin. Slowly all countries will accept bitcoin as a mode of payment.

Wow, is this for real? I've been expecting for this since Satoshi Nakamoto is a japanese name but no one really knows if that is a true identity. This will make the demand of bitcoin higher again but I just wanted to know if there's a link for it or an article so that I can read the whole concept for this news, otherwise this is a very good news.

the first japan bill containing virtual currencies is expected to come on april which recognizes bitcoin as a method of payment.Although,it doesnot define bitcoin as a legal currency,it is still considered as a remarkable progress for bitcoin in japan.Hope, most of tourists who would go to japan to see 2020 olympics would be able to pay in bitcoins.
Thats a great news from such a technically advanced country like japan.Previously, most of japanese lost their interest in bitcoin due to Mt.Gox shut down. Its good to see now they have started adopting bitcoins once again.Since 2020 Olympics is a world event,if bitcoin is accepted at that time, then surely it would give a big publicity to bitcoin through out the world.

Read about it couple of days back. Awesome news for bitcoin users. We can expect it to be mass adopted from now on. Slowly but surely. Japan was always friendly towards Bitcoins and are way ahead when it comes to technology or technological advancements. The world need to catch up to them.
