This post shocked me. Then it saddened me. Shocked me because I had assumed "mem's gambling list" was all but defunct. Several posters have told mem that betsofbitco.in recently stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from some of their customers. At least one provided a link. Mem eventually showed up, apologized for being so busy lately that he can't keep the list up to date, then said he would need a link to see what this was all about (ignoring that a link had already been given). I provided a link to the long thread in the Scam Accusation forum, but the thieves at betsofbitco.in are still listed on "mem's gambling list" as a reputable site. Imagine my shock to learn that gambling sites CAN still be removed from the list. The list is not in fact defunct. Why SD should be removed is not at all clear to me, as there doesn't seem to be any reason or logic behind the decision, but it's indisputable that mem is still removing sites he considers somehow unworthy.
I am saddened to see that the thought police are out in force, and to be reminded once again that most people are such sheep. I read through what was linked and did not see a single racist thought. Strangely, I did see anti-racist opinions being expressed. Racism refers to a belief that a "race" is genetically inferior/superior to another. The blog linked explicitly stated that there is no reason to believe that any "race" (or fenotype) is genetically superior to any other.
If you want to say he is ethnocentric, or prejudiced, I could definitely understand that. That would actually make sense. He doesn't deny that he is elitist. Somebody called him a "dick", which is fine. If you wanted to claim he engages in discrimination, you might even be able to convince me. But the blog post linked is explicitly anti-racist.
So why is he being labeled a "revolting racist"? Well it's clearly an attempt to label and marginalize someone that the majority disagrees with. Calling someone a "revolting ethnocentrist" just doesn't pack the same wallop. I'm not ignorant of the fact that there is a widespread and ongoing attempt to redefine the precise meaning of the word "racism" to encompass all kinds of viewpoints found distasteful by the majority. I see this as an excercise in intellectual dishonesty. The smarter people involved must understand the completely unsubtle difference between "race" and culture, but they like to use the label RACIST anyway.

So no, I do not support boycotting the core, I support boycotting MPEx and every client it has.
Is the person who posted that article on these forums? He sounds like an utter, utter, UTTER sociopath. And I agree that, for now, it should be MPEx being (quite rightly so) run out of the community for this, not SatoshiDice.
Well sure, but do you really want someone like this being associated with Bitcoin? If it were just some random pyscho on the forums (of which there are of course many) that'd be ignorable, but if this guy runs MPEx (which I've not had any intention of using before now, so not much has changed for me) then that's a bigger issue. Having some dick like this running a Bitcoin exchange should not be encouraged.

This is the core issue here, bitcoins most well known business is run on top of a shitty bitcoin exchange operated by an outspoken racist. This is not the usual subtle brand of racism we are all used to, this guy takes time to write up long hate speeches justifying his way of thinking.
Erik either did not bother to do his due diligence when doing the IPO or has no problems with the racism MPEx promotes.
Until SDice decided to use MPEx it was an insignificant little nothing run by an angry racist, this is why I include SDice (that and they are their biggest customer).
Respectable businesses and Sponsors are known to drop clients, mascots and spokespersons when ugly shit like this rears its head, yet Erik is strangely quiet.
MPEx did not suddenly become a revolting racist after SDice gave them their endorsement, they have been this way the entire time (read his other blog posts if you have the stomach).

Mircea has gone too far with that article, his expressed opinions are that of a sociopathic racist, and completely unacceptable in any kind of civilised society.
I personally completely support the OP's call for a boycott of MPEx.
They've pulled out all the stops - hate speech, unacceptable in civilized society, psychopath/sociopath, KKK, Hitler, Nazis, hate groups, "kind of person", revolting racist. Again, calling his viewpoints ethnocentric just wouldn't have the same power to marginalize. They need the labels to do that, even if the labels have no basis in reality. Take "psychopath" for example... Let's pretend that there actually is something called a "psychopath", that "mental disorders" do not largely depend on the prevailing culture of the time and place these classifications are invented out of whole cloth... Look at the current defition in the DSM. What has this guy done that would lead you believe he is a "psychopath"?
Mem even goes so far as to threaten that the operator of SD will be "branded a racist" if he does not do exactly as he is told. And that he will be "blacklisted" as a "supporter of a hate group". He is not making any bones about the fact that he intends to libel and marginalize anyone who doesn't fall into line. I am guessing I will get the same treatment.
This all reminds me of the sheep from Animal Farm. They were too stupid to even understand the entire ideology so they were just taught the maxim "Four legs good, two legs bad". Anytime an animal tried to disagree with the pigs in charge, they would get shouted down by a tremendous bleating of "FOUR LEGS GOOD, TWO LEGS BAD". That's what I see here.
Please note: Before you start with all the nonsense, I have never been an owner, investor, employee nor customer of SD or MPEx. I don't know any of the people involved. Sadly, I am not paid to post; though, being an elitist, I feel I should be.
