A preliminary result of the NPCC #3 competition

The New, last challenge for the NPCC - NPCC #4 is starting in 1-2 days

Rules to be added the soonest!

NPCC 4 is the last incarnation of NPCC competitive challenge. Based on the experiences with NPCC, the game core mechanism of Upkeep: health, culture and wisdom, will be revised to Clan Upkeep Module.

The new core mechanism (C.U.M) is not specified yet, but it will change the following principles in upkeep:
- All characters owned by one player may be grouped in the same clan, which has 1 account and 1 char_id for changelog.
- Having new characters becomes a restricted bonus which is administered by the system.
- Deaths will be calculated automatically, with this causing a mourning period in the clan account, but no larger changes.
- NPC hired by the player, must be fed and clad in NPCC style, but via the system commands, not separate accounting needed.
- The amounts of food etc, consumed, are the aggregate player decision, also their production happens in free markets since anyone can found farms intown, make better roads for starting farming outside of town, improve conditions in counties to produce more meat, start breweries, etc.
- Consuming will be made fun, with visible culture and wisdom bonuses showing positive progress.
- NPC salaries will be cut because they are fed by the employer.
- New NPC will be raffled annually to those already owning a certain kind of NPC and geeking them in good food. Labor would not sell NPC habitually (special cases possible), but players would sell them in the aftermarket since the random bonuses are often not exactly what the player wanted. This will make the NPC market a whole lot more action.
- The formulas will be balanced so that the consumption of wines, becomes important for happiness, and spirits for health, UND for wisdom, and without food, the NPC will quit your service, selling themselves to the highest bid in the market and keeping the money themselves (Town).
- WIS will start producing SCI.


Known rules so far for NPCC #4

Only changes will probably be made to Drinks, and those will be all the more sweeping. Since the Health, Culture and Wisdom values of drinks have been revealed, it is possible to grade the wines and spirits according to their true value. We want to preserve the simplicity of one act of consume = one point, and to keep this, the table showing the number of bottles will become quite an interesting one. During the period, this will cause the prices of wines to be reset to their combined usefulnesses, because the NPCC effect on the demand is so large (90%+ of eating characters are NPC).

I am a little bit concentrating my businesses and one possibility is indeed to give the manor shares to DeptStore, who will soon merge with King's Farms, and will take the competition with NewFarms (whose success in these days can be participated in - S-NC is in the market).

Well, that kinda sucks because most, if not all, of the manor lords have been sustaining losses with the hopes of something good to come out of it in the future.

I am in no way forcing it, but there was already a case with a player needing to concentrate on other things, and both his Estate and County need to be reorganised. This is an option. Not the best option of course, holding on is much better in the game-success scenario.

The NPC suits requirement in ClanChallenge is so large that I decided to work overtime and crunch all the numbers immediately to enable everyone to plan to their best. The profit potential for a well-planned and nimble operation is immense, and the TAI-items are completely linear in their payout, so everyone is exactly on the same position to make money, according to their skills and resources.

The numbers currently existing in each item type and their required numbers of each type of suit are listed in Google DB /SuitsNeed tab, freely viewable by all and current as of 3 hours ago.

The numbers are based on the design decision (from the first days of the game) that 15% of income is to be spent on suits (in fact, it was 20% then). 35% is to be spent on consumables and 50% will still be paid as salary when Clans comes - this includes rent. These kind of decisions will only be revised extremely slowly.

So we are in the position that the number of suits needed is 5400 and only 1500 exist (numbers ignore PC need and Unique suits). Suits can be converted from IC at the following prices:

(color, IC cost, approx mil)
red      144   10.08
orange 112   7.84
white     64   4.48
green     32   2.24
grey       16   1.12
brown      8   0.56

This means that tailoring is profitable in all stages, the profit margin is ample. However, the need for higher quality suits is much smaller than that of the lower quality ones. Prices may be pressured when the initial need is met.

Additional things to consider are among others:
1. The "labor suits" are priced in IC, so its fluctuations affect the profitability both ways.
2. TAI-7 may not be the best item now as it produces blue suits for a limited number of nobles, however the playercount is planned to increase by not a small percentage, at about the same time that it takes for a TAI-1 to promote to TAI-7.
3. Unique suits production is extremely limited until more TAI-8 get promoted.
4. It is possible to demote a NPC so undesired promotion can be reversed. This is currently an admin action, but will be a command "soon".
5. Tailors promote reasonably quickly, mostly 20% chance. Exact numbers are in item details or in Google/NPCtypes.
6. The influx of new tailors is a given, this increases the need for suits as tailors wear green+.
7. Also the other NPC numbers are on the rise - or perhaps not because there is an initial cost burden per NPC to acquire the minimum stock. Everything will happen very slowly, though, so dumping the NPC right when they (especially high level) will become prized assets might not be the best decision either.
8. The TAI-1 conversion price of 10 IC until the end of this year is peanuts, and a rise is most likely. It is possible to produce to stock. The unknown is when the module is live - I am going to Malla for a few weeks, which historically has been excellent design-productivity. The design is now "almost complete", which can mean anything. The development time should be very contained, perhaps a week for the "suit challenge".
9. If the module delays, the NPCC will continue to use suits, but excess production will meet declining prices (the NPCC can absorb infinite number but their profit formula requires the additional ones to come at a discount). The increased awareness of the importance of suits may cause the NPCC to bid more heavily on them, as historically they have ignored the suits even though they are the key to victory.
10. When the module opens, there is first a 2 year grace that the lacking number of suits will not cause penalty to the owner of the NPC. Then, according to my discernment (which will be communicated as it comes), the penalty will take 5-10 years to rise to the planned level approximately linearly. At the same time the happiness bonus for having excess suits will start from a higher-than-normal value and decrease to the planned level approximately linearly.
11. The NPCC remaining suits will be sold at market when the NPCC ends, so that the NPCC will get points for the money raised. The money goes to Town in the end. This procedure will be announced in advance so that at least 48 hours is given for placing the bids before the dump may start, and the total liquidation time is a year.
12. There is no planning to change the style of WOS-x1 to WOS-x2, so there will be only one model of fungible suit of each color for the time being.

I felt it necessary to disclose every bit of info there could possibly be, to make the playing field level. Crunch the numbers, make a plan and make money! Martti will be doing that, and King as well (if not for other reason, he has   s o m e w h a t   m a n y   NPCs to clothe, himself Cheesy ).

When is the game going to be available for evaluation?

Unpausing the game in its current incarnation is hardly possible. To resume playing, we need to develop the new version, Clans. To develop it, we need a nontrivial boost to our team resources, and to have the resources, they need to sign up. This rusty old forum is the initial venue for these calls to action, but once the team shapes up, we will move to the TownMgn, TownCouncil and DevSlack channels or whatever works.

There will not be any game ready for anyone's evaluation, before we have decided to make it (and have made it). It may come as a surprise that a decision is needed now, when 'everyone is eager to have it ready', so I have tried to explain the reason for this need in the previous posts.

Faithful to my style, I have written about this wake-up procedure as a matter of life or death. But the analogy is actually very valid. Each morning, you either wake up, or you are dead. Crypto Kingdom is sleeping, and a certain procedure is needed to wake it up. The procedure is different from last time, when me and PJ force-marched a new platform when none existed. Now my will alone is not enough to both wake it up and get it to the next milestone.

What I seek to accomplish here, is to gain back the active players and rework the game community administration. In a few days, 20 people should sign up (4 so far). Then from this "general assembly", Town Council would be appointed, general plan drafted, roles and tasks appointed to the members, money raised, and all the structure made that is needed to support the growth. After this, game development.

NewCorp

This succinctly named corporation used to be the largest in the game by marketcap (S-NC: 50 bil). There is currently a large uncertainty factor in how to value land. It used to be that Town was selling an empty chapelry for 1 bil, but this will have to be revisited.

In thinking how to restart market making and thus make valuation for this company (needed to value many other companies), we ended up to a starting value that is 1/5 of the pre-pause value.

It is possible that this is way too conservative, just as yesterday the CON and HM02B100 starting prices were. But the market will decide! In addition to the properties listed in the company holdings, it owns 21 full chapelries, and operates NewFarms.

Also NewCorp has paid its dues and doled out an extra dividend Smiley

This is the time to buy land cheaper than it ever was.



The Hypothecary Bank in CryptoTown

The seasoned Bank had a rude awakening with more than a billion overdraft. This is now completely covered.

What remains in the assets and receivables side, is:

* 960 mil worth of outstanding debt, which has expiry dates in 1652...1680. All debt is secured, but the value of security has probably sunk below the principal. Also there is uncertainty when 1652(etc) will take place, so all this debt is now valued at 50% (480 mil)
* 114*CON are valued at (1140 mil)
* CKG and stock portfolio altogether (240 mil)
* Bank Building, plus all other assets and collectibles (250 mil)

Since the Bank has 1,000 shares of stock, its starting price in the market making is 2.13 mil per share. Even after covering the massive overdraft, the Bank shed only 2/3 of its M-denominated value during the pause.

Bank has now both paid its dues and doled out an extra dividend Smiley

The Bank is a handy way to leverage the speculations, and when the game resumes, it stands to gain from the loans.


Town Housing Corp (THC)

This company was unable to reset marketmaking, because the majority of its assets are buildings. Building pool payouts have not been adjusted, and unless they are, the situation will cause a massive windfall for owners (and new builders) of buildings.

Hence there are currently no offers. Providing them would be disingenuous because it's me who will likely decide how the buildings pools are treated.

The stock price used to be 670k, and the cash at hand is 100k/share. So with the buildings taken into account, the value should be in the range 250-670k per share, making this the best surviving company of the "great revaluation of 1647".

Dues were paid and a happy dividend given, of course Smiley

A possible way to remove unnecessary insecurity from the game

Let's merge CON and CKG, so that the market decides in which proportion their holders are awarded a new token "CK", which is Town votes, ownership and dividend token. This will cause Town to become debt-free and we have a very liquid token to invest in. Simplicity gains back the value that we have lost because of uncertainty. With excessive torture of the rules, this is not even a fork (just a default), and simple majority suffices.[/b][/color]


First I will comment that I consider this proposal a perfectly viable solution to the current financial situation of CK. I do believe however that it can be improved upon in a way that respects the Crypto Kingdom social covenant regarding the fixed amount and permanent nature of CKG, and does not destabilize the collectible or unique value of items with embedded CKG, such as weapons, jewelery, commemorative coins, etc.  

Overall comment is that things can be done many ways and the "right way" is usually impossible to know both when the heat is on, and also afterwards. That is why I disclosed my moral compass #1 promises #2 future #3 fairness.

I think my proposal is a bit more structured to fulfil the promises, albeit it is possible to think my story does not really avail anything - default is default. For these guys, all the money needs to be distributed first so that Town factually does not have any, before default and restructuring is legitimate. Some others probably do not care about the promises or rules at all, in favor of the principles #2 and #3.

The future is difficult to know, and the most important aim, abolish Town debt yet leave it in possession of the money, that is fulfilled in both.

Fairness includes fulfilling the initial goals of the both groups of people, giving them opportunity for decisions, and equitable outcome in the restructuring. Here the tentatively proposed 90% for CON seems out of range:

* Council can decide to distribute everything to owners, so there is a minimum that a CKG is worth (again, I am listing this just for completeness)
* If the game would be liquidated by running the dividend scripts until money runs out, the result would approximately be that:
- 50% go to building owners
- 25% to CON holders
- 25% to CKG holders.
* The markets after the opening have assigned CON an average of 38.8% (now: 49.2%) of the combined market cap value of CKG+CON. In a simple merger, market cap includes the information needed to decide the ratio.

ArticMine proposed the eventual number of Town stock to be 60 million basic units. I was thinking what the suitable number would be and ended up in 5-10 million. Anyway we are close here.

Retaining a legacy role for CKG owners is not needed because everyone who cares about the game, will own CK anyway. So there will not be a separate group of CKG owners, just confusion. Rather let us keep CKG as a limited quantity resource (as is CKS, with the distinction that CKS can be created). Or flip the tables and decide that CKG from now on has fixed dividend.  Cheesy

New constitution is needed and the ideas presented were promising.

New Start(TM)

Proposal to:

1. Write a new constitution for CK;
2. Merge CKG and CON to one token;
3. Get rid of Town fixed liabilities (ie. CON);
4. Offer all holders of XMR-denominated private debt the possibility to pay back early at favorable rates;
5. Give the owners of land in 1-SE and B.9 the possibility to redeem them at a lump sum and consequently abolish extra tax;
6. Donate all OldDuchy land inside the Wall to Town ownership;
7. And use this basis for getting back to developing and playing the game and growing the community.

Without further details at present. In principle, I have sensed that (or explicitly asked) that out of the 13 largest CON holders representing 89% of CON,

My loving people


The tide of the ages has hit our most ancient Kingdom with its unstoppable power. When my virtuous father was in power, the strength of the Kingdom was unquestioned and despite our small numbers, we were able to demand tribute from peasants and foreign nations alike, including the 1,000,000 CKG.

During my 15 years in power, life has not been so simple. Growth pains, my insufficient capability of organisation, and difficulties in personal life (I am also 211 years and not the same as in the glorious years of my youth), are taking its toll.

If the leader of the nation is weak, all evils prey upon the peaceful people. After long and careful meditation, having the best interests of our people in mind, I have decided to abdicate in favor of HE Prince Crichton of Plath.

I have important, crucial, responsibilities in the management of the whole project. While there is the initiative for finding a CEO, there is no guarantee how long it takes, or whether the choice will be a blessing. I will have to be the de-facto CEO in the meantime (responsible of eg. finances), and also coordinate the development (PJ), do the design, and recruit the new CEO and train him. Having less time than before in my hands, the die fell on abdication, which not only eases my burdens, but also gives the whole game a new and surprising flavor, which I hope will boost everybody's spirits and make the sun rise over our lands again!

As I leave this high and noble throne, it will not be left desolate:

* Crown character will keep all the historical state items, construction resources, Wine cellars and public lands and buildings that are essential for the Kingdom. Enough gold items will be left to not make the King feel a pauper.
* OldDuchy character passes to the new King with all its gold, armies, horses and other things.
* Coinshop character stays in my ownership, and honors its promise that I will only get the dividends, and cannot sell out the principal during the game.
* New Department Store stays with me.
* Most investables including CON and ingame shares, I will keep. If the shares have special storytelling or other significance, they will remain with the Crown.
* I will be known as Zechariah #36 with the long title tba
* Other details will be decided/announced as they become relevant.

King is an important connector of the players, and a full time job in the current stage of the game. I trust in Prince Crichton whom I selected to succeed me on the throne, to reign in truth and for the success of everyone, rich and poor, current and future player, alike.

Gamemaster Update 6

The suddenly announced abdication of the King is of course the main news today. I needed to put this plan in action because it is likely I am indispensable in the management side, but changing the King will hopefully turn beneficial for the game. So this was both necessary and expedient.

Also there is the New Start(TM), but that does not include any details yet, and the points have already been on the table. The reason we are not calling a vote and just.do.it. is that our rules do not know voting (except to elect the Council), so it is not a legal way of deciding things. Of course we do not want to bend or break the rules without knowing it is universally accepted. So this is the reason these proposals just float in here, and soon something is locked and executed.

The important CKG and CON markets have calmed down, therefore I will increase the Coinshop marketmaking depth as promised.

Currently CKG and CON marketcaps are the same, and this has raised the idea to marry them on equal terms, with both getting half of the new "CK". On average, CKG has even been worth more, which would nicely account for the additional value CKG would still have as a luxury resource.

Also still undone is the buildings windfall dividend, after which the building pool funds are repurposed to Town general fund. The dividend will be in the form of M regardless of the building usage. The past taxes are also forgiven.

In the spirit of releasing people from debts and taxes, tentatively B.9 land can be redeemed for 5,000 m/sqm and 1-SE for 10,000 m/sqm. If this is done, the land becomes normal land. (The extra tax is 700 m and 7,000 m, respectively, so in no case it makes sense to keep the land - the alternative is to give it to the Town).

I luckily do not need to burden myself with the RAF-4 allocation. The Royal project passed on to the King, so he will decide the worthy recipients of the tickets, and I'll help out with the technicalities of the raffling of his gold when the tickets have been gifted.

The old king left the Crown+OldDuchy character about 25,000 CKG but that is largely in non-tradable forms, and in the context of royal needs, is not that much really. I am looking forward to what the King decides to do with the balancing of his assets. If the Crown decides to list some royal treasures for sale, be sure to scoop them up, because it has never happened before, might not happen again, and only happens in limited quantity now.

It feels awkward to give away the Royal Palace, originally built with 1,000 XMR, then renovated with 1,000 XMR after the earthquake, and finally rebuilt with 1,000 XMR after the fire, all from my pocket. From the surface, it might seem that the XMR should just have been deposited away and everyone would be better off. But knowing history, my personal holdings were compromised and stolen, so without CK, I would not have anything anyway. Now at least I can give the palace to the new King!

The following is put on the vote in the Town Council, and for the majority acceptance of the owners of CON item:

1. The Town Council acknowledges that the 25x rise in the XMR/fiat price has put the Town in a position where it is credible to doubt its ability to pay the CON dividends if the XMR/fiat rate continues the rise, even if there is no other thing wrong with the game.

2. The situation makes Town fundraising and CKG and CON prices depend in the XMR/fiat price in an unwanted way.

3. Hence, to absolve the requirement to pay the CON dividends weekly, enable Town fundraising, and get the investment markets back on proper footing, and do all this according to rules, the Town will default on its obligation to CON owners.

4. Defaulting causes the Town ownership to pass to CON owners, and CKG to lose its vote power and right to dividend. It also causes CON to become the Town stock with vote power, but not have the right to fixed dividend.

5. CON owners create a new token "CK" by splitting CON 1:1000. This will cause 5,500,000*CK created, prorated to CON owners and item named CON will be erased.

6. The CKG owners are also asked to join to strengthen the new ownership. Those who own items containing CKG, will receive a dividend/spinoff of 5*CK per CKG. This will cause 5,001,815*CK to be created, prorated to CKG owners.

7. In total, 10,501,815*CK will be created, of which 52.37% to the previous owners of CON, and 47.63% to the owners of CKG.

8. There is no change to the items containing CKG except the loss of the right to dividend and the loss of votepower previously effected.

9. The ownership of CK will be the basis for the votes in the constitutional meeting.

10. Everyone who has land in 1-SE, may redeem it for a lump sum of 10,000 m/sqm. Everyone who has land in B.9, may redeem it for 5,000 m/sqm. This frees the land from the annual tax burden, ADD: which would otherwise be 7,000 m/sqm and 700 m/sqm, respectively. The redemption is done automatically instead of collecting the tax when it next time will be collected. It is possible to give the land to the Town instead in the meantime, or demand the redemption annulled (which returns the money and gives the land to Town) in 14 real-days since the act. ADD: Buildings on the land do not cost extra to redeem.

11. All holders of XMR-denominated debt, who are not sure if they can pay back when the debt comes due, are asked to contact the creditors now and work out a deal.

12. All unopened OldDuchy land inside the Wall is passed to Town ownership.

I have probed the support for this proposal, and while the support is not unanimous, there are no voices clearly against it either.

The discussion concerning the extra-taxed chapelries is unsettled, though. People hold diverging opinions about the generosity of Town in offering them the possibility to redeem the land against a lump sum, and some are concerned that they do not have the money to redeem the land.

As the fiscal officer of the Town, I need to uphold the Town's rights to collect its income, as it also honored its commitments to pay its debts, to the point of surrendering itself to the majority ownership and control of the owners of its debt (CON). Town is taking a severe blow here with a more than 100% dilution. Other debtors may likewise not enjoy the situation they ended up in, but like the Town itself, they have to deal with it, choosing from the best options available.

So to not cause unnecessary bad beelings, I will withdraw the proposal to settle the extra tax with a lump sum. What to do with it, and the back taxes from approx years 1641-1647, are better handled under the new Town administration and not bundled with this.

The Town Council has approved the NewStart(TM) plan. As to my knowledge, the majority of the holders of CON are also in support. If you are not, voice your opinion now in the thread.

I will come back in 10-12 hours and if the majority of CON holders are still in favor of the proposal, it will pass and be executed, and a General Meeting will follow.

ADD: This also means that there is no Town Council meeting today, nor ever again in its original form, founded in the 1400s. The Rule-Making Power passes to the General Meeting of the holders of CK, who will be able to rewrite everything with a simple majority. The other officials or positions who stay in power are the King, the GM and PJ. The General Meeting may change GM and PJ. King may change himself.

NewStart(TM) in effect


The rare use of 20 pt font is justified by this being the biggest change in the history of the game. Not only the former King abdicated, but also the Town has defaulted and all the rules have lost effect.

In this situation it is important to gird our great minds and work together towards the new governance structure, put the right people in right positions, and start working on the things left un-handled from the previous era of playing. As these are decided, we can move on to the next era.

CK began as a MEW offshoot. Some still remember the MEW (Monero Economy Workgroup), most do not. Now it is considered the prehistory of Monero. (At its time it was the breath of fresh air to the staleness of Monero, of course.) The governance of the MEW was based on 3 offices, all directly nominated by the general meeting of all votes.

- Operational Executive was like a Chairman/CEO, tasked to keep the organisation rolling, call the meetings, organise the proposals to be voted upon
- Members Executive was like the Community Contact, he was communicating, kept the registry, and also handled the funds
- Judicial Executive was needed when there was a case that needed interpretation of rules to continue, or similar.

MEW was just a platform, the actual actions were supposed to be taken by its members, organised freely according to how the members saw fit.

Now the succession from the MEW to CK becomes evident when we realise that the 3 first char_id's in CK belong to the 3 executives of the MEW, (in the order above).

It takes surprisingly long to grow a centrally-managed game to the point where it is possible it might function with divided powers. We can now legally do whatever we wish, up to the point of deposing the newly-appointed King and proclaiming a republic, or abolishing the Town and its council, to make a DAO in its place. Or a little more conservatively, move to the separation of powers doctrine, by defining roles to the:

- CEO
- King
- GM,

and moving away from absolute monarchy to become a constitutional monarchy instead. The previous rules would have hardly have deserved to be called "constitution", and were not.

I would wish that as we now meet (12 noon UTC, today), we would do the following things in roughly the following order:

- begin discussion of constitution and principles thereof, perhaps nominate a workgroup to draft it;
- find out the game (previous: Town) financial situation and draft the continuation;
- quick-draft the roles for the people in the transition phase, compensation;
- appoint judge/s to deal with the possible claims that players will file from the previous era of play; a usual claim will be a disagreement of the currency to be used in a certain payment (because of the difference of x10 in the result, depending on which one is taken);
- have a long and nice discussion about what do we want next in the game side, how to capitalise the transition to yield the maximum excitement and fun for all involved.

The Devteam and Coinshop proudly present:

The earlier chained commands feature has been simplified to solve the main use case it was intended to - having a self-replacing market making ladder.

Commands to be used by market makers:

BUYSELL item_id amount buy_price sell_price   // first places a bid, and when it is fully executed, places an ask, continue ad inf
SELLBUY item_id amount sell_price buy_price   // first places an ask, and when it is fully executed, places a bid, continue ad inf

As one command causes either the sell or the buy order to be active at all times, what logically follows is that it is possible to place the orders for all price points at once, and even if the market runs out of range, it does not matter - when it comes back to the range, the 2-sided market making resumes.

- paint with mouse from bottom up until all the listing is painted
- copy (Ctrl-C)
- open googlesheets
- Edit -> Paste -> Paste Values
- do "text to columns" if necessary
- clean the data if dirty
- now you have the item data in your sheet
- make one column the "buy price" column
- make other a "sell price" column
- third is an "amount" column
- decide for each item, which price you are willing to buy it and add the values
- same for sell price, or you can also make a simple multiplier such as 3.14x and use that
- next column is the concatenation column
- use function =CONCATENATE("BUYSELL ",item_id_cell"," ",amount_cell," ",buy_price_cell," ",sell_price_cell)
- in the above, the cell references are cell id's such as B14
- use rounding if there are decimal values, they might cause issues
- copy the formula to all the items
- copy the final commands column to the game command line
- ensure that cursor is in the end
- shoot

This will make you a secondhand shop operator, who has bids on every thing, and instantly when they get sold into, the item is listed at a higher price. it is a moneymaking machine! Doing it first time might feel difficult but after some practice it's a 15-30 minutes job, most of which is thinking.
