I'm not expecting anything different... At least that's from my own personal standpoint. I've always said this and I'll still say it again -- you can't expect to see changes in an instance, even if Pep was called for the job.

 Xavi had a good season with Barcelona, but what's the guarantee of doing the same with united? Zero. They got way different players, with very different abilities to play, adaptation skills etc.. so he would also need time to blend in with these players. I think there are many factors to consider when it comes to winning the Ballon d'Or, as each season sees several players develop.
But other factors, such as the team's failure to win the Champions League, also play a significant role, as you mentioned regarding Mo Salah and Yamal.

Yes this debate revolves around club is loyal to their current manager Amorim and at same time having Xavi as easy replacement. And Xavi who has helped Barcelona win LaLiga has not secured job in such long period. They assume that he is likely to reject offers until he gets high profile position. Thus club is not seeking to fire Amorim now but Xavi is on bench as most likely person to fill vacancy in case current manager has major decline in results and needs to be replaced.

To be fair, could anyone say that is a bad idea? I would say that is a great idea and would be amazing for them. It is not about firing a manager, it's just being ready and when they are ready that means we are talking about something that will benefit them a lot, would make it a lot better. Why and how? Because it's clear that we are going to end up with something that will benefit them for a long time.

It should be something that would get them a great amount of help, so it is going to be something that will be profitable for them to be ready. If they already talked to Xavi, and told him that he is their goal to get in case Amorim fails, and if Xavi already accepted, that is perfect. It gives Xavi to study the team every game too.
