Hello! Accidentally sent BTC to BTX address. Is there any way I can get it back? Thanks!
Yes, if you have access to the private keys for the BTX address you sent the BTC to.
If that is the case, please let us know if you are using coinomi or bitcore core (bitcore-qt) wallet.
I use BitCore Core (so I have wallet.dat + password). What should I do?
Ok, here is what I personally would do:
1. Load the latest version 3.0.5 of the Bitcoin Electrum wallet:
https://electrum.org/#home2. Create a new wallet for Bitcoin in your newly installed Electrum wallet.
3. Open Bitcore core (BTX).
4. Click Help -> Debug Window
5. Open Console
6. type
dumpprivkey <the address you accidently sent the BTC to> (without the <> brackets)
IMPORTANT: If your wallet is password protected you need to unlock it first before using
dumpprivkeyIf that is the case use the command
walletpassphrase <yourpassword> 100Again without the <> brackets. 300 is the time in seconds your wallet will stay unlocked.
7. Now go to your electrum Bitcoin wallet and use the option Wallet -> private keys -> sweep
8. Paste your privatekey from the Bitcore Core console and click Sweep.
Finally send yor BTC to a secure Bitcoin wallet of your choice.
Note: Always be careful when handling private keys with crypto-funds on them. Ideally don't be connected to the internet when copy-pasting and have decent anti-virus protection etc.
