In regards to what payment method is the most suitable for Mysterium platform, we strongly believe that our crafted promise based payment approach using MYST token will solve the problem(P2P value transfer without 3rd party involvement). There are other approaches on the market and every approach has it’s technical challenges and limitations which restricts projects from easily switching between them.
Ok, so it looks like as if the token is a pure means of payment. This is a problem, because the extra friction that buying selling first BTC/ETH, then the token, will drive users off the project. Plus, due to the weird intricacies of token economics, the value of the token is almost completely decoupled from its utility.
P2P value transfer without 3rd party involvement
Yeah, no. ETH and BTC are P2P value transfer systems as well and they need less of a 3rd party as MYST does. Or where am I supposed to get the tokens other than an exchange? Not to mention how cluncky ERC20 token transfers currently are, with gas and all.
I kinda believe that you think you are doing everything right, and your position isn't exactly enviable, but I think if you took a closer look at the economics behind what you say your token is supposed to do, and if you spoke to some outside people, who are versed in economics, about your current approach, you'd find out that your current approach to payment, using a token, is a dead end.
From what I can see, you are working on your VPN and it's chugging along nicely. It would be a pitty if nobody uses it in the end. And under the current circumstances, over the long term, no one will.
I am just some random guy on the internet, but I'm telling you, go look for some experts, ask them what they think of your current payment model (you have the funds to do so, after all) and listen to what they'll tell you.
Because, here is the point:
The general question for every token model is "why a token, why not a general currency?"
If "because we coded it in a way that you need the token" is the only answer, your project is dead on arrival.
Our project has received funding, has a clear whitepaper with milestones and a team of security and privacy experts that has grown strong from 4 to 30 and growing.
I think it's time to add some economy experts.
