What is the minimum requirement to mine in CPU

Your computer and software for the mining is enough to start the CPU mining the profit rate you should bury in words also. If you own the i7 8th generation computer also your computer able to mine the coins with its all 8 cores but profit we expect will not happen for sure. Additionally you have graphics cards also you cannot expect passive level of income with the CPU. Please buy a GPU rig and move to mine bitcoin or top altcoins.

Hello,

does anyone know if ZenCash is CPU mining friendly?

Thanks...
It's not. The algo is equihash, the same as Zcash (ZEC), so GPU only.

magi is another CPU mining only coin if you guys want to check it out.
I tried it a couple of times and is was a lot less profitable than cryptonight/lite coins like xmr/aeon. Maybe the profits fluctuate a lot with Magi, I don't know, but twice it was suggested in these forums, and both times that I tried it — it was barely covering the electricity costs. XMR was like 2-3 times more profitable.

well I'll give another vote for aeon! mine it, it you have 4 cores CPU, with proper setting, it will be running in 50% of load when mining
the cryptonight-lite version of AEON algo is more power efficient so your cpu do not consume to much energy
with i5 like 6400 or something similar you'll get about 400-600 h/s
it will give you like 0,5 aeon per 2 days I guess.
so do not sell it, wait. once it will pump, say once in 2-3 month sell and earn x3 or x5 more profit

I get 1550h/s with my dual xeon X5650  Grin

how is it possible ? i have i5 6500 and i have something about 150 H / s but i use the Minergate. do you have any advice on which program to use? or settings? I will be very grateful  Smiley

don't mine with minergate.
use xmrig to mine aeon coin with aeon pool. use exchange's (I use hitbtc) wallet.
optimize your miner against your CPU type.
my dual xeon X5650 got 12C24T, 24M Cache, so got 1550H/s.
you should got 500-1000H/s depend on your CPU's cache.

you may mine monero (XMR) instead of aeon.

I tried xmrig and I got about 130H / s when Im mining monero. I mining a week and I still have nothing in my wallet where can be a mistake?

Mining with laptop is not profitable as continuous usage for long periods will definitely reduce the life of the Pc.

Credits (CRDS) is currently CPU-only. It uses the Argon2d algorithm and development has restarted. You can check this thread:

Pretty inexperienced CPU-miner here.

My personal favorite right now is ROI-Coin

CPU-only and solo-mining is still possible, though one pool has been set up and probably more to come.

First of all if you will be CPU minning you should get a better CPU as you have mentioned you only got a low end laptop and it will not cut it frankly speaking, also even if you have an Intel 8700 or AMD Ryzen 1700 still it will be crushed by a good GPU. So to speak investing in a good GPU will save you countless of hours and electricity from minning on a CPU.

Even the same thread in 2016 was a roaring NO. Come on, we need that it is a pain that you do not have the equipment or the funds to get an ASIC, but that does not change reality. It is what it is, only a very small group of coins give a small profit and that means a lot of work switching and handling the wallets, not worth it at all.

You can try mining not popular new coins, such as this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2344886.0
And if coin increase in the price you get profit, for mining monero you must have ~10pc with middle end cpu's

Today mining is a very expensive way to earn altcoins. Besides the hardware that costs much ( and you need this stuff – not the laptop), you spend much on electricity. It will be good if you start getting profit in a year.
Better deal with trading and investing into reliable projects.

Yes, you can make profit if you mine the right coins. I have a Ryzen 7 1700 CPU (OC'd to 3700) and a cheap $100 GFX card and make ~$40 profit a month mining Monero. I recently switched to Sumokoin though for quicker payouts and growth potential. Hashrate is 900 h/s for both coins.

Credits(CRDS) are about $0.075 each right now and block size is 10 so about $0.75 per block solved. CPU only mining through a local wallet only.

Will try mining on some of this coins later. I have free electricity and I only use the PC for encoding so maybe I can mine while doing work. Two birds in one stone. Smiley
