Just curious, since the Internet is mostly an Earthly thing... would astronauts be able to access and transfer their Bitcoins whilst traveling throughout the solar system?

I don't know what's on your mind. this question is very difficult to answer, because only an astronaut can answer it. are they incorporated in this forum?
very little possibility. for me this is not interesting at all. you should make a post that is good enough for us to discuss and share

Your definition of ventilate is distracted and can take in hand to association definitions of 'tell' as adeptly. but to be determined, the ISS have the funds for internet connection to its crew a proopos- board. its worse than dail-up internet but is competently-behaved for sending and receiving general emails. basically bitcoin can take steps in outer heavens if you have a wallet single-handedly needs KB/s to reach tx date.

astronauts on long period mission might have invested in bitcoins and the prices rise while they are in space and want to sell them, which is possible
Bitcoin is a digital currency and it needs internet connection to access it
All you have to do is somehow connect to the internet and you can access your bitcoins syncing to blockchain

It's an interesting question, but I don't think it's really necessary for cosmonauts. For what? This will be superfluous, besides bitcoin developers will need to bother much to do this.

Here talked about the fact that in space there is the Internet for communication with space-related organizations on Earth. But I'm not sure spaceships have access to the general Internet. Otherwise, any astronaut could sit in his free time on Facebook. Therefore, it is unlikely that you can manage your bitcoins from space.

Well that would be possible since everything will be upgraded and I believe that human is very intelligent therefore they can use it in outer space not now but soon. We can't stoped the changes and the transformation of everything. Bitcoin is very flexible we can use it anywhere we want even in the outer space.

Yes we could use bitcoin in space as long we have are own internet connection and why we need to use bitcoin in space if we cannot use our bitcoins there. We should focus outside the space not focusing in earning bitcoins. And the salary of a astronauts are much bigger than we earned through bitcoins.
what are you talking about ,did you in any way thinking that the astronauts are focusing on earning bitcoin  Tongue How cares about the salary of astronauts,@ OP if you are having an internet connection then you will be able to send bitcoins where ever you are and there wont be any restrictions,it is as simple as that,i am just scribbling because to make you understand how simple the question was.  Wink
He make it more complicated on its answer even the question is very very simple but well its his own view and i do agree that astonauts having big salaries but the main question here is about bitcoin usage on space and yes its really possible as long we do have connection and could able to make transaction on the entire chain then it wont really be a problem as long web signals can reach out their destination.
Exactly as long as there is a connection accessing bitcoin are may not impossible with some astronauts to connect for and use bitcoin because this is a digital currency that work as long as the internet are there and you have the tools or gadgets to use for.
But in the space there is no internet mate. How can internet break the sky space?
However, people as astronouts are not as many as in the earth so i am not worry if people can not use bitcoin in the space.

As long as there is an internet connection you can use Bitcoin. And yes there is because astronauts can access it. You do not know how fast it is. You should search on google if you are interested, I'm sure google has it. But now NASA is working on high-speed internet in outer space. Just be able to travel at the speed of light. So in the best scenario you are talking about an astronaut who can send Bitcoin from one country to another for a few minutes.

Yes, because internet can be accessed from space and you can control your bitcoin with internet access but it could be harder because of slow connection.

you know what everything is impossible. Bitcoin needs internet. And in the Internet there probably is no Internet. Although, maybe I'm wrong. But even if there is an Internet there, I'm not sure that it's someone you need  Smiley

Well maybe i guess. You should search on google if you are interested, I'm sure google has it. But now NASA is working on high-speed internet in outer space. Just be able to travel at the speed of light. So in the best scenario you are talking about an astronaut who can send Bitcoin from one country to another for a few minutes.  Bitcoin is still a digital currency which can be used through the use of technology and with the use of internet ofcourse, as a platform. But I really can't understand why would an individual use Bitcoin at space.

I do not think that's possible, because outer space is nothing. Nothing can be bought in space with bitcoin or because in space there is no life so bitcoin will never be used.

I do not think so. It is non sense to use bitcoin in space. Only few people are capable of living in space.

I am also just wandering will astronauts need bitcoin or other money in their travelling through the Universe?

Well, sounds funny but I think it would be really fun for them to play with all the money that they own but cannot hold when they are in space being bored as hell. I think that they will really find it amusing studying the charts and making investments and all that stuff to increase their cryptos and literally be on the moon while sending pictures of their coin logos on the moon. That would be completely awesome. haha..

An unusual topic. Why not ? You can transfer money wherever you are on the Internet.
Thanks to Bitcoin, all banks in the world started to develop themselves faster. They have to develop themselves by taking power from their riffs.
With Blockchain, you can transfer money to any country in the world instantly, cheaply.

As far as I see Bitcoin can be used where there is internet and something to connect and display an output since you need a screen to see. So a phone in space should work on Bitcoin network. Maybe one day we will travel in space and use bitcoins.  Tongue

Don't worry. It'll come.

I can't see mankind sending colonies out to Mars with bags of coins, notes and debit cards.

When you see fiat the way I see it, its absurdly archaic.

I want my self driving car moving around refuelling itself, getting repairs, paying road tax, tolls and picking up passengers while I'm busy figuring out the best spot in the asteroid belt is for the highest demand minerals without it having to hold cash or have a card reader.

It's going to have to calculate journey distances and thus prices and be able to accept payment before anyone climbs in.

I haven't got time for mundane shit like taking my car for a service, paying my road tax, organising repairs etc etc. Too busy trying to enjoy life.

I also don't want to own an asset that can't pay for itself.

We can't have fully autonomous systems without crptocurrency.

How else can distributor transact with a space based manufacturing plant? Or a manufacturing plant transact with myb autonomous mining fleet? How does the firm leasing the mining ships to me keep a track of the usage of their ships?

The autonomous mining ships need to arrive at the factory, quote a price for the mined materials and take payment before it docks and unloads. If the price isn't acceptable it needs to refuse delivery and head to the next factory and try again.

The ship also needs to be able to transact with refuelling stations and maintenance platforms. Surplus value needs to be sent to both the leasing firm and my Earthbound wallet to allow my TV and smart fridge to pay for Netflix and chips, so when my automated car gets me home I can sit on my smart chair can be ready to give me a full health diagnostic while I watch Game of Thrones and eat my chips and dip. The chair can then update my fridge to adjust my next shop to reduce the carbs and increase the protein in my next fridge. More importantly if the chips and dip are shit, the bowl can let the fridge know not to order them again.

My dogs collar also needs to be able to hold value so that when it detects that my dog has been drinking piss out of the loo again, it can communicate with the car to give the dog a lift to the vets and pay for itself to have its stomach pumped.

We need a world where more than just fleshy meatbags can carry value for anything like this to happen.

In the future value will be everywhere but in a meatbags pocket.

Of course, I could be crazy and we'll still have cash and the planet will go to shit because we'll be unable to clean up the atmosphere due to manufacturing still taking place on Earth and we'll run out of natural resources because we can't mine anything in space.

I know how I'd like the future to be.

To all the FUD and doombringers, history will remember you the same way as people that used to believe in black magic and burning witches.

Banking will be remembered the same way as the slave trade.

Crypto is the correct future. Whether it will be the actual future is up to us.
