Why do people like Trump?

I am not naive. There are people who simply hate Trump and have no interest in letting go of their hate, and I hear from them. I know that hate flows in the other direction, too. But based on the scores of responses I have received, most Americans, whether pro- or anti-Trump, engage in deeper analysis and perspective than the bombastic presentations of too many cable news programs suggest.

I respect everyone who participates in the political process. In these pieces, you won't see me differentiate "real Americans" from others who somehow are not real Americans, or use terms such as "liberal snowflake." Some have taken offense to my reference to East or West Coast "elitists." If that's the most derogatory term I use, please forgive me. I realize that not every liberal who lives on the coasts has an elitist attitude, and of course even elitists are real Americans, too.

This is very easy to answer. We often like something when we benefit on that something or someone. For my conclusion, I think that the people who likes him benefits on his presidency. So, that is enough reason for him to be liked.

"Why do people like Trump?" isn't a question that asks for a "yes" or "no" response.

It's not just one reason or one reason for everyone, it's not that simple. But the collection of reasons include:

• He represents conservative "values" in a package that isn't the same old established "inside the beltway" Republican
• He promises everything and anything to a group of people that are desperate to see their worlds change but (A) don't know how and (B)
   don't bother to think through whether what Trump promises is actually possible. (E.g., people in many parts of the country want their manufacturing jobs back, Trump says he'll bring them back, he may bring some back but if he does those people needing the jobs won't be able to afford their products they produce. More likely, he's not bringing any jobs back...it's just too expensive to manufacture anything in the US)
• He says whatever the f*ck he wants...and some people like that in an era where sensitivity for politically correct behavior seems to be getting to incredibly unrealistic levels
• He's not Hillary Clinton...or a Democrat

US politics is so messed up that people will actually vote for the "lessor of two evils". It makes no sense. People are afraid to vote for anything other than a Democrat or a Republican. People say "voting for third party is throwing your vote away". That quote is possibly one of the dumbest comments anyone can say in a democracy or a republic.

I think this answer summed it up pretty well tbh. People had 8 years with Obama's failures and his successes weren't enough to convince people to vote blue a third time and Hillary Clinton is just unelectable like no one that's done any kind of digging into her past thought she was a good candidate and the fact the democrats actually thought she was a shoe-in on top of rigging the primaries just goes to show you how lost the Democratic Party truly is. Voting third-party is still considered taboo in today's duo party system but I have a feeling that is changing as both Republicans and Democrats fail their bases expectations.

That's true. One of the reasons why people voted for him in 2016 was due to the fact that he seemed to be less of a warmonger, when compared to Hillary Clinton. But now he is behaving just like Hillary.

Since a few years earlier, nationalism has rised in many countries including USA. If you think Trump, he is also nationalist. When we talk about religion, Trump causes many difficulties about Muslims in the world. People who support nationalism also support Trump. But they need to think about it is nationalism or fascism.

In 2016, people were not familiar with the policies of Donald Trump. He promised a lot of things and the voters thought that if he gets elected, then he was going to implement them. But as usual, once he got elected, he watered down many of his policies and dumped some of them entirely. But even now I think that he was a better choice than Hillary.

Of course he is charismatic, brilliant salesman, confident and experienced businessman, but what about diplomacy? Does he respect anyone in fact? Respect is what he is gradually losing among the voters, among lots of citizens of the US. Do you think he can be liked by people who know he couldn't care less about them?

besides all the negative things that are being said about Trump, the man is quite confident and knows (most of the time) what he is doing. I think that's what is attractive about him, to start with, he's already successful and presidency is for him "nothing special", he is a direct talker and a good salesman/marketer (he's essentially a business guy), so he knows how to convice someone and what to tell to make him even more attractive in their eyes. I think he's stance in many things is wrong, but it's something new for everyone - we never had such a person in office and we can all learn something out of this experience. If he will again elected is another question, but we'll definitely have to live for the rest three years with that guys whether we like it or not, and hope that he'll do more good than harm, we'll have to see I guess.

Of course it's very rare when people respect their president. As for Donald Trump, even at the very beginning of his cadence, people were against his power, So he still has to win the trust of his citizens.
