It's not binary and certainly situational.. We were gold bugs, but the market went stagnant after last bull run. Bitcoin has yielded a 5x return and gold has done nothing in a long time. Gold has one attribute that Bitcoin can never fulfill: It is immune to communications disruptions that could be caused by accidents or attacks, EMP or the otherwise aka a SHTF scenario. You'd want gold, silver and food not Bitcoin. We keep many commodities because you must hedge your bets.  |

Bitcoin is better than gold because it's more accessible, anyone can start buying it/holding it anywhere, doesn't matter the amount you have to invest. Gold is harder to find in my opinion and just worth if you hold it physically, otherwise I don't think it's safe. Bitcoin price is increasing a lot also in small time periods, gold doesn't give the same profit opportunity.
Yes, true, bitcoin is easy to access, easy, fast, and can be used anytime and anywhere. And inefficient gold like bitcoin, it's because gold has a real shape, it's very hard to carry everywhere for various transactions, and I think gold is difficult to transactions small amounts. , If long-term investment, I choose gold, because its intrinsic value is real, it is a real asset with a stable price, and because people will always receive gold. Bitcoin is better than gold on the speculative side of investments, because volatility offers speculators far more likely to trade more profitable than other assets. Gold and bitcoin have their own advantages. |

As far as i know bitcoin is really better than gold even you look the evidence here in bitcoin forum you will see the proofs that bitcoin is better than gold. The main reason is bitcoin is easy to access and you can use bitcoin anytime anymore as long you have an internet connection and gold is very hard to find unlike bitcoin you can easily earn it.

So Bitcoin is better than Gold?  Yes ofcourse Bitcoin is better than Gold. Because Bitcoin price is increasing day by day. If you can reserved bitcoin now after 1 year later you can sell it with high rate. But Gold price is not increasing day by day. So Bitcoin is Better. |

In terms of store of value it is better than gold. Bitcoin keep on increasing and is inclined to increase further as the adoption increases and reward halves. Aside from that bitcoin is better in security and we can secure it ourselves. We can use it whenever we want or move it to any part of the world in an instant.

Good analysis, yup this will clearly explain how bitcoin is dominating fiat and gold in the global market. But the major disadvantage of Bitcoin is it is virtual currency and govt will not allow us to do any legal business with this bitcoin. If they make Bitcoin is legal, then the world automatically adopt this bitcoin. |

Indeed, bitcoin is better than gold because of the price movement and a fast gaining profit unlike in gold that it is very stable and it will take you a lot of years before you notice some progress on your investment while in bitcoin just after a few weeks you can easily see the progress and earnings from your investment. So i think it is very clear who is winning between them.

I wouldnt say "better" ...
One major difference is perceived value or inherent value w/ the following meaning:
"if you couldnt trade it, would you still want it?"
Im willing to bet if bitcoin/cryptocurrencies wasnt tradeable .... it would be dead and noone would want it.
Gold or precious metals on the other hand .... people would desire it and they have desired it for thousands and thousands of years.

It depends, based on the user the importance of gold and bitcoin differs. As quoted bitcoin has got the anywhere accessing option which is quite hard with gold but now this too is available with gold through digital gold investment. In terms of security gold takes the lead as bitcoin operates on its own. Yes, there is the option to invest in gold virtually also, like Bitcoin. But is it really safe? I think between virtual currency (BTC) and virtual gold it's better to choose Bitcoin, at least the variation in the price values the risk to have a virtual investment, that is much more risky than have physical gold piece at home very well stored. |

Crossing borders is a big advantage at the moment with Bitcoin, though it will apparently become the norm that the NSA will check your phone/computer to check for dodgy activity, including seeing that you don't have lots of Crypto.
There is no way to detect if you are bitcoin owner, or if you are transferring bitcoin within your smartphone, PC laptop, whatever device you have. We can encrypt private keys and hid it somewhere, remember or write down mnemonic HD wallet seed or use dozen other methods to conceal your bitcoin stash. If you are serious crypto holder then there is no need to worry about airport security at all. |
