nobody knows and can tell for sure. it depends on many things. we can start seeing another downtrend and some more stability phase like back in 2015 when price stuck in one place. or we may continue seeing this rise continue upward.

that price is going to get here some day but we can never tell when that day will be.

This is just my own simple assessment. Around August we should be at least $2500 and we will end 2017 at $3000 or even more. 2018 crypto market will continue to grow but I doubt we can reach $5000 right there. So maybe by 2019 we are at $5000. But who knows. Maybe by 2020 we are already at $10,000 per bitcoin as the supply is getting scarce.

I think your statement here nails it. By 2020 more people would like to have a Bitcoin or at least a portion of it, but availability maybe the problem as there are people out there who wants to keep it or hold them than use them in exchange of goods or services and I think that will drive Bitcoin price higher but I maybe wrong on my observation.

In an older post back in December 05 2013 I post a thread asking when do you think BTC would be at $2,000, well it took almost 42 months to achieved that goal.

I would say that it will take about 2 or 3 years for the price of Bitcoin to get that high. It won't just instantly shoot up.

Anything is possible in the world of crypto. I think since Japan has accepted bitcoin as a legal form of payment, we can expect more countries to do the same. And when this happens it is possible to see more than $5000 per bitcoin. The real question is when are more countries going to accept bitcoin.

I prefer the price to increase towards that level just before the next block halving, or just after that. It will give the market enough time to build itself up, as everything takes time. By that time the demand has increased significantly, we might have an ETF, we surely operate larger blocks, and the block subsidy is at an all time low. That will surely justify the price to demolish the $5000 level. Even more precise - I will be disappointed if we by that time haven't gone through that level.

Only time can tell,so far no one knows when will bitcoin reach the price of 5000$. What is important is that as long as bitcoin will never go back to 1000$ ,everybody is always happy.

Mate we are feeling so because the price of bitcoins is only rising right now but I am sure it will fall a bit too in coming months and hence a price of 5000$ will take around 2 years at least and the best part is bitcoins is not setting new averages, I mean $600 seems a bit low now and average would be $1500 if it even falls a touch.

Earlier the drop was more than the rise, I really hope it hits 5k soon but not really sure if that would happen any time soon.

In last 15 days nearly $7B bucks fresh money has entered Bitcoin's market, I'm not talking about marketcap since that's just an estimation of total marketcap no I'm talking about a very strong confident investors with deep pockets pouring money overtly and I can see the old investors as well are investing more and more backing the price up which shows Bitcoin now is seriously competing with ETH and Ripple.
As much as I'd like to see $5000 but that's a bit far fetched expectation, if you could mine Bitcoin costing you even $2000 you have no reason to pay more than $2200 and now we only could tell what will future bring as a market price if we wait for difficulty to adjust at least 2 more times, then I'll let you know if $5000 is close to reality or not.

42 Months huh time flies well I guess I will go with 6-24 months and let this guess be mocked at later.

It is really difficult to predict the price of bitcoin and looking at the current rally it seems like it is not that difficult to see a value of above $ 5000 in a very few months and what surprised me is that the price is rallying without any major correction which was not the case with bitcoin last year ,as we usually see a correction with every rally.

End of 2020, so about 6 months after the next halving there might be chance hitting that highs.
Can not really see it happen before. And this is still wild guessing from my side.
The thing is this crypto space is evolving incredibly fast and lots of stuff can happen.
Maybe another coin will replace Bitcoin, what I hope is not going to happen. Or some other hidden attacks or takeover attempts may hapen which could harm Bitcoin.
Any prediction further than a few months therefore is so much useless. I would say lets focus just on this year at the moment and lets's see what the outcome will be.

yes that is very right that any thing is possible in this world. and i think we can see that the price of bitcoin is increasing continuously, so if the trend of bitcoin continue to increase more and more then it is expected that the price of bitcoin will cross 5000 USD level at the then of 2017.

The way parabolic bubbles work, we can very easily see testing of 4000 USD per bitcoin next month. The resistance there could be too much and cause significant correction (spanning 6+ months), but with that said 10 000 USD per bitcoin will be in game far sooner than 2020, sir 

Unless, some alt replace bitcoin as virtual gold (wealth retention), which I find extremely unlike in medium term. Even ETH is unfit for that, perhaps monero in couple of years. But not now.

Testing 8-10k might be on the table as soon as next year unless something catastrophic happens.

I do not think any of the anonymous coins will ever threaten bitcoin because they are not transparent.

My argument for why transparency is critical is below.

Looking at a daily chart, the bar curvature strikingly resembles the beginning of 2013 bubble. If that's the case, i wouldnt be suprised at 10K this year (yes, another epic bubble).....then another massive crash back to 1-3K and float in that region for a few years before the next bubble. Big bubbles and crashes are to be expected while still in infancy. When liquidity increases down the road, the spikes and drops will not be as dramatic.

This will take a very long time. We know that number is not a small number. See some possibilities then i think it will happen in the next 2 years. This is quite rational because bitcoin will be increasingly in demand.

You are just plain wrong. This is irrational movement by the market that does not justify the real demand for real use of Bitcoins. Do you really believe that the buyers of Bitcoin are buying because they really are using it as a currency? No. This is a buying frenzy and fear of missing out.

let's just wait to for this to happen when the time comes no one knows what will be the bitcoin will be facing if its good or this is just becoming people happy for short time no one can guaranteed the bitcoin price at the price of $5000 by 5-10 years if someone else who can prove that this will happens and will never face any fall then I am happy with that.

At first, I didn't believe that bitcoin will reach 2000$ price this year. But only in first quarter of the year. Btc broke my expectation that's why I'm betting that Bitcoin will be at 5000$ at the end of the year.

It looks like price can reach easily over $3000 within current pump or may be by end of this year. And $5000 may come up by end of next year that is by December 2018. 

I am thinking of holding all my bitcoins till price touch $10,000 per coin.

I dont think we are going to hit 5k. I would like to but everything has been going too good for too long. Imo we are going to see a serious correction at some point in the near future. How can it be possible that this much new money has come into bitcoin as well as alts??
