Not necessarily. Just because a Company is multinational doesn't mean that it can adopt the same policies worldwide. The same Japanese airline might not be able to implement this policy in China, because it would run foul of local regulations.

Yeah but the transaction time should also go with the flow. If nothing can be done into changing it or making it faster then instead of having a great news bitcoin will create disaster.
Imagine if customers at the airlines that are new to bitcoin will try to use it and then gets into hassle because of the traffic it creates into the process of payment. They will have to wait for a number of hours for it to be completed.

It's impressive that their airlines are considering these things though, I was expecting for there to be a lot more "on the ground" types of acceptance before something like an airliner would start accepting Bitcoin, but I guess it makes sense when you consider what a lot of the country does when it comes to new things.
