Hi,

I just want to make sure i am doing this 100% correctly.

I just want to know how to back up my litecoin wallet and my feathercoin wallet.

My laptop is going crazy lately and although i only have a few coins of these new variety and no bitcoins Sad   i still want to make sure i don't lose them.

So is this the correct way to do it

1 - encrypt the wallet with a password

2- close the wallet and open it again so encryption takes place

3- go to that appdata/roaming folder and make a copy of the wallet.dat  and copy it to my 2 external drives. ( does the wallet need to be closed when i make this copy?)

any help will be great thanks Smiley

Yes, I think you got it right. Save the wallet.dat on a secure place and dont lose the password, there is no way to get it back once lost - no email recover, etc. Neither of them.

I would also suggest to rename the wallet.dat to something a little more vulgar because of hacking. I think I lost mine that way after mining bitcoins for 6 month (6bitcoin lost). Learned my lesson - live to tell Smiley. (although I still consider myself a newbie, for several reasons).
