I can still place buy orders:

Buying   240   0.1   Active   24   06/19 14:02   cancel

I think someone hacked mtgox,  selling all BTC from everyone's accounts

Would that account for the giant volume increase?

Regardless, I've pulled my coins back into my wallet from mtgox.

This selloff is due to Mt Gox's terrible setup.  I would have bought 800 coins over the last few minutes if I could have gotten an order in.

I would've bought much more than that...don't get sucked into this crap...the bitcoin market is still relatively lightly traded and someone looking to snap up tons of bitcoins and easily manipulate the market down.  And I think that's precisely what's going on.

Holy jesus, so people did make out. Can you verify that these are legit bitcoins that you can move out to an external wallet?

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Who has the sense to pay $10+ for something that people bought for less than $1 minutes ago?

No, actually it's a good time to hold. But sell if you want, I'll add your underpriced coins to my collection Wink
I prefer $13 sure now, I bought them at $13.5 anyway

===== PLEASE READ THIS!! =====

I WOULD NOT PUT ANY TRADES ON UNTIL WE HEAR FROM MARK!!! CLEARLY Mtgox has been hacked. What is happening is NOT somebody "dumping" their bitcoins to "cash out". Somebody managed to break into it, and it is playing with the database. We need to wait until Mark (Mtux) has a chance to check this mess.

If you put more orders, it will only mean overloading the system more and more, and more work afterwards to try and weed out good trades from bad trades.

ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT CASH OUT ANY MTGOX USD TO ANYBODY (LIKE BUYING MTGOX USD FOR A MONEY PACK) UNTIL WE HEAR FROM MARK!!

This is an ILLUSION created by a bunch of bots to create panic. DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO IT!

Is anyone who was lucky enough to login to MtGox and buy a lot of bitcons at this absurd price also generous enough to donate any to those of us who weren't? Smiley

Can anyone confirm that they had bitcoins in their mtgox account that were sold without them placing the sell order???

I personally never, ever leave any bitcoins on deposit at mtgox (nothing against mtgox, but just prudent IMO).

Because it is the game* on a way to a more stable market - there are winner, there are loser. Lucky for all that had a nicely low bid at the right time. Unfortunately, I had not, but nevertheless great fun watching the market at http://bitcoinity.org/markets Cheesy
