I see several threads at least made every day about how to get out of newbie status and similar things because of the requirement of being online for at least 4 hours while posting at least 5 posts. I was wondering is it really that hard to get out of newbie status? I mean if you really care, spend 10 minutes and post 5 quick posts and then leave your computer on for 4 hours and refresh say every 15 minutes while staying logged in? I don't get why so many people are worried about sneaking out of newbie status.

And anyway, I can honestly say that once I came out of newbie status, while it was interesting at first and I browsed the other sub forums some, the newbie  sub forum is still the sub forum which I spend the most of my time in compared to the other sub forums.

I rather like the Newbie subforum and will miss my status once my time is up.

It is a bit inconvenient, but I understand the reason for it.

It's not hard, but it is very annoying. The newbie restrictions didn't exist when I joined, but if they had, I wouldn't have cared enough to try and get out. I still think we should get rid of the newbie restrictions

I never understood why new members have a problem with it either.  Maybe us bitcoiners tend to be impulsive and want everything right away?

Its definitely annoying as others have said but it is needed. I could see it being tough for the many who don't really care to be that active here as far as posting/ reading alot of the minutia.

Sometimes people don't want to be stuck at (or at least near) their computer for 4 hours so that they can refresh every once in a while. Given the nature of bitcoin, that's probably not the case for most bitcoiners, but it is for some.

A little frustrating, because my Feathercoin pool is getting hacked, atm, and I have no way of telling the admin my wallet address is incorrect. Other then that, I understand the reasoning behind it

I don't think 4 hours restriction's intention was to make one "refresh every once in a while". I believe the real reason is to spend these 4 hours productively on familiarizing yourself with bitcoin and the forum.

The 4 hours browsing isn't the hard part.  It's having to post 5 times in the newbie forum on threads you may not want to in order to post on other parts of the forum.

True, just found question in developers section I can answer or I could if I weren't stuck in this limbo.

I understand the reason for it, but like others said sometimes it can be annoying, especially if I see something I want to reply to.

I sell Bhut Jolokia "Ghost" Chili seeds and other hot pepper seeds for BTC. PM me for details.

It is annoying since I rather post very specific questions/comments in a threads where the OP has a chance of reading and answering. But hard, no.

That. And I think they try to cut down on people making multiple accounts for give-aways etc. Seems like a necessary evil tbh.
