If you love Bitcoin, and love to read about Bitcoin, then it's easy to get.
If you have no clue about Bitcoin and want to learn, and you read a lot and ask questions, then it's easy.
If you're not fussed on Bitcoin or see it as a 'quick rich scheme' then it WILL take all the patience you got.

I cannot comment. I haven't hit 5 messages yet nor 4 hours but am working on it. I'd prefer it if it was easier though. I guess I can comment then. One thing I'll say is that the 5 message requirement will lower the quality of posts (especially from me) for the first 5. On saying that, I don't really expect my later ones to improve that much but I use as an excuse for the first 5.

It's extremely irritating when you (I) have to come here and post something useless (this) in the hope that at some point soon I can contribute what I wanted to in another thread.

It forces you to browse and adapt a tiny bit to the forums. So it's not useless.

I see several threads at least made every day about how to get out of newbie status and similar things because of the requirement of being online for at least 4 hours while posting at least 5 posts. I was wondering is it really that hard to get out of newbie status? I mean if you really care, spend 10 minutes and post 5 quick posts and then leave your computer on for 4 hours and refresh say every 15 minutes while staying logged in? I don't get why so many people are worried about sneaking out of newbie status.
And anyway, I can honestly say that once I came out of newbie status, while it was interesting at first and I browsed the other sub forums some, the newbie sub forum is still the sub forum which I spend the most of my time in compared to the other sub forums.
+1 Actually "out of newbie" should require +20 post with some point (at least few words!) and at least 8 hour online time!

Why were there even any responses? /Thread ^^

Have you waited at least 10 minutes? From https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15958.0 (Newbie restrictions): Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)
