With that, we can retire anytime we want.

I just cant imagine why would ETH rise to $5000. It is has no max supply, so its amount infinitely. Something that is infinitely cant gain value by itself. Take for example gold or bitcoin. With each day it becomes more rare, hard to find or mine. That is why there is believe that its price will go up. Speaking about ETH - it has lots of competitors. Its technology is no longer unique and ETH is not a monopolist on the market. The only reason in can raise - correction in price because of Bitcoins price growth.

One factor that pulling this coin since there's unlimited supplies most of those investors who take chances to this project are already looking for other
resources or other projects that have potentials, there's no guarantee that it can go that far in terms of value not unless bitcoin will pumped hard and
bring those alts to also tailed its fate.

Please read more about ETH. There is no fixed cap on ETH true, but that's only a part of the story. Long term it is deflationary, just like BTC, but the mechanism that determines this is the amount that gets created over time becomes a smaller and smaller percentage of the whole until the natural loss of ETH counteracts the creation. This whole talking point about ETH being an unlimited tap of supply is way overblown and simply not true in a practical sense.

Ethereum is not deflationary. You should read more about Ethereum also. The monetary policy of Ethereum is centralized to the mood of the developers and Vitalik on any time period.

Does it mean that developers and/or Vitalik can do whatever and wherever they want with supply? If yes, then this is another logical reason why ETH wont reach $5000 in 5 years.

Anyway, speaking in simply words, ETH is "an instrument" with open code for dApps. Eth is not unique and is not the one on the market. Others develop too. If ETH increases in price till $5000, then other should do that as well. But all that will make everyone and everything devalue.

@bakasabo. Yes Vitalik and the developers can change the monetary policy with the support of the miners. Look at the changes they did before. They were done without big problems.

Also, I am not talking about the supply. Ethereum's supply is infinite. I am talking about the changes in coins rewarded to the miners per mined block.

What would be your target price of Ethereum for 2022?

Im betting $2000 but before we reach that price there will be enormous volatility because of fud and hype.

This project is the best among cryptpcurrencies and it is clear that is following Bitcoins pathway. Development, services and changes are alwasy there to offer to the public

Soon the ETH team will make ETH move to PoS Mining, I hope that this update will have a very strong impact on the price of ETH and will be the most important in 5 years.

besides that many people are also looking forward to the launch of ETH v2 and it has a better impact on the price of ETH but unfortunately it hasn't happened until now. we know that the ETH team always works well and about PoS Mining I hope it can be done.

So sad to see ETH move down 30% in a few days,,, but of course the entire crypto market is having incredibly tough times,,, so this is just a temporary glitch in the matrix as the whole world economy is breaking from this WHO announcement.

I would say that ETH 2.0 needs to happen fast and quick, but it will only be here 2021 so we have to sit through a lot of pain first.

From the time the OP started this thread, was actually almost 3 years ago come this June. So we are talking about 2 years from now based from the OP's timeline. With the current pandemic that we are experiencing, I don't have idea what will happen to Eth 2.0, but I am sure that the eth development team is working hard on this project. They will not release something that is not useful to many crypto users. So I guess, for the next couple of years, eth is still here and finding ways on how to serve crypto users. Definitely not dead as they have good foundation. Hopefully, Vitalik will launch another groundbreaking concept by that time.

If you ask about the target that unfortunately I want for the price of ethereum in 2022 which is $ 15,000 for sure. this is a reasonable price ethereum so far, after the price of ethereum slumped from 2017 ago ... certainly all will be very happy with this price and crypto lovers will be excited again

From the time the OP started this thread, was actually almost 3 years ago come this June. So we are talking about 2 years from now based from the OP's timeline. Where is the good foundation, however? Vitalik and his developers created an unscalable platform. That is not a good foundation for the platform that they hyped as the world computer.

I also predict that Vitalik might make the coronavirus as the excuse to delay Eth 2.0 hehehe.

Crypto is changing at light speed so to try and predict any coin 5 years out is impossible. But I believe ETH will be huge in the next 5 years

Well, if you don't have a high target and you bought your ETH at dip, like below $100, then I am pretty sure time will come you'll enjoy the profit.
In years to come, I am expecting another bull run to come, and this time around people will be more matured so they'll not dump right away because of panic.

but, always be ready because the market is very unpredictable so timing is everything here.
