What will all this do to the price?

Will this first step in scaling be the sign investors need to really start jumping in on Bitcoin? Will it be the sign the USA SEC needs to approve the Bitcoin ETF, allowing people to invest in bitcoin more easily?

Assuming bitcoin growth slows down this summer, will segwit create another boom this Fall like we've had this Spring, sending bitcoin possibly close to $10,000 by end of year?

Sending Bitcoin is and will still be instant. However I do agree we need fees like they used to be... We're yet to see if SegWit will provide such.

If price is the only thing you want to discuss, then it's maybe better to have this on the speculation section I think. Anyways, if what happened on other coins applies to Bitcoin, the price will go down, at least for a few days... Which is great as I'll be able to get cheap coins

Pretty much, we've had almost 100% rise in the price since two months ago and this price even exceeded my expectations. Of it continues like this, we might see unleast $4k before SegWit implementation.

I think if that will not have a lot of difference with litecoin. But if the segwt of bitcoin will be implmented and it will bring back the lost demand of bitcoin. i mean those are using the litecoin and doge will back for using bitcoin again.

yeah thats because it isn't true. It was happening in China, but that got resolved recently. And it wasn't inflating the price, it was keeping it down. China started helping to push Bitcoin up again when China opening back up their exchanges for withdrawals.

I think he was talking about Bitfinex. I'd say the issues are already fixed since the BTC price on finex is normal, when it was trading at a 100-200$ premium before.

So why did the price started to rise and rise and rise soon after wells fargo or something blocked bitfinex accounts? or right now withdrawals are blocked in China? those are good factors of price increase in my opinion. But never the less even if people start dumping for fiat who ever buys from them if holds on to their coins price should recover fast.

You sir are deluding yourself - none of these proposals are likely to achieve activation thresholds and it is soon becoming moot. Bitcoins importanace to crypto is falling, I don't think ETH is the answer the DAO experience will have scared businesses away from the idea of accepting ETH for payment, why would you when one man can declare your exchange invalid? Do more research and read more from the forum, there are many speculation that are very good and are not against to split because they surely know about Segwit or segregated witness, but if that is the case I think it is not a split that is gonna occur but it is more on Doubling the amount of bitcoin, but if it goes well I think all of us would surely benefit from it.

Haha, I was referring to the exchange to fiat bank withdrawals comment. But yeah I don't think that is a reason why the price has been rallying. Segwit activating before aug 1st, now that is what needs to happen for trip to the moon.

Don't be so overtly optimistic that price after SegWit activation will double or triple. Better expect something totally opposite.
It is wise to thing that there will be mass price drop before SegWit will go live, there is rather high possibility of mass panic.

Yeah but I don't think the price could be ascertained just like that even though segwits has its own advantages. 

Litecoin's prices dropped significantly after segwit was activated and I guess it was because of the weak network it has which barely handles like 4000 transactions. But who knows for real in the case of bitcoin, maybe people may panic sell bitcoin?

Most expected thing in the bitcoin community will never give profit mostly. Even last year halving most of the expect bitcoin price on the halving day nothing moves it seems around 900$ alone.

What makes the price double after segwit,is it because we could make transaction at a faster rate,remember we did not see any major changes after the activation of segwit in litecoin,so never assume that the price would double after that and forget about ETF,there was a time when the price would depend upon the approval of ETF,now things have changed .

Regular segwit with no hardfork drama = price goes to $5000-$10000 easily in the next 12 months.

If segwit finally will be activated and hopefully works smoothly, bitcoin suppose to back like the old days when we pay low fees and faster confirmation time. After scaling solution successful, more investors will be join into bitcoin market and pump its price, maybe over $5000 in this year and could reach $10,000 in the next year but still USA SEC won't approve it due to volatile prices.

If everything goes good. Bitcoin is likely to go up. But here are lots of people who are not very well aware with Segwit and are scared of August. Many people are likely to sell their bitcoin before August. This will lead to depreciation of price. But I believe that will live for short term. Bitcoin will again gain momentum after all the fuss in over and after a month of segwit activation. So, in long term its a win win situation.

not to mention if you want a 100% irreversible transaction then you need to worry about the number of confirmation not just having the confirmation. and that is what people usually forget when it comes to comparing bitcoin with other altcoins.

with altcoins that have <20 second blocks this number grows to a much bigger number of confirmation.

This question is very relevant right now, since Segwit is about to get activated in just a week's time.

I would really expect the price to not move this much, perhaps a $100-200 pump tops but no further movement apart from that. It probably won't go down that much either, if it was to go down which is unlikely in my opinion.

The reason why is because we basically all know now that segwit is going to get implement it. There is very little doubt. The pump has already happened when Segwit got locked in a week ago, and the upward trend is slowing down.

Unlike the 1st August events, the segwit activation is pretty much certain and i'd be surprised if it doesn't go smoothly.

i think it will go down a bit, just my crystal ball which is cryptofianciallyspeaking uneducated :-) but every time i think about a situation the opposite happens, don't know why

So segwit will supposedly be activated this Fall right? This should mean blocks are no longer near full, transaction fees go back down to hopefully 10 cents or so, and sending bitcoin will go back to taking tens of minutes instead of hours.

What will all this do to the price?

Will this first step in scaling be the sign investors need to really start jumping in on Bitcoin? Will it be the sign the USA SEC needs to approve the Bitcoin ETF, allowing people to invest in bitcoin more easily?

Assuming bitcoin growth slows down this summer, will segwit create another boom this Fall like we've had this Spring, sending bitcoin possibly close to $10,000 by end of year?

The price at the moment is above 4000 dollars I think it is being too optimistic to think that bitcoin is going to grow up to ten thousand dollars before the end of the year however segwit has liberated bitcoin somewhat and we are finally seeing a price of bitcoin more close to reality.
