So segwit will supposedly be activated this Fall right? This should mean blocks are no longer near full, transaction fees go back down to hopefully 10 cents or so, and sending bitcoin will go back to taking tens of minutes instead of hours.

Sending Bitcoin is and will still be instant. However I do agree we need fees like they used to be... We're yet to see if SegWit will provide such.

What will all this do to the price?

If price is the only thing you want to discuss, then it's maybe better to have this on the speculation section I think. Anyways, if what happened on other coins applies to Bitcoin, the price will go down, at least for a few days... Which is great as I'll be able to get cheap coins

I don't understand why people think confirmations are the same as sending bitcoins. That's just the time it takes to have it confirmed that it's a valid transaction. You can only do that if the transaction already happened! So ya, payments are and always will be instant. Confirmations quicker really make no difference unless you're trying to buy coffee and they have a lot of people double spending on them.

not to mention if you want a 100% irreversible transaction then you need to worry about the number of confirmation not just having the confirmation. and that is what people usually forget when it comes to comparing bitcoin with other altcoins.
with bitcoin 1 confirmation means a very low chance of double spend happening which is nearly zero.
with altcoins that have <20 second blocks this number grows to a much bigger number of confirmation.

What I believe is there will be a fall in price just after Segwit if happens but that would be for short term. After that bitcoin will grow like before or better because any of the blocksize solutions would allow bitcoin to continue growing. Growth is required for stability. A stable currency is a good store of value.

I would predict a short term with a healthy future growth until we reach the next scaling ceiling.

I wouldn't bank on their being any dip at all, it could be already priced in and don't forget that if bitcoin splits into two chains, you need to have bought it before 1st August to own them both

Yeah that dip to, what was it $2100? That is where segwit2x uncertainty was priced in. From here we HODL, then on August 2nd-10th when everything goes well we're going so much higher. Hopefully the infinite supply ponzi known as ETH will crash.

I believe Segwit can push the price upward.  Imagine the long problem of scaling is about to be solved.  Even though there are lots of FUD spreading around for the possible chain split, I believe this are only propaganda to make people sell their own Bitcoin stash at a cheaper price.  Though a Chain split means you will have Bitcoin in two chain if you happen to hold some before the fork.  This mean profit and then the main chain will definitely skyrocket in terms of price.

Specialists are predicting that next scaling ceiling with SegWit2x is gonna happen after 16 years. So we have plenty of room to think of any alternatives.
As always we have no idea how the market will react to bitcoin upgrade, I expect that there might be pretty big disturbance before as many people will panic and sell off their positions.
After a successful upgrade, we will see rapid growth, hopefully, a new stable floor will be above $3000 and price won't ever go lower than that.
