I'm interested if: not a scam, and payment accepted in ltc.

Well, there's no way it can be a scam right now considering this is all concept. If I make a store I might accept ltc, but btc would probably be preferred (also will take credit/debit and paypal probably)

You can make this a scam pretty easily.  Just offer 1% interest per day on pre-order deposits.  No need for a final concept.

Honestly I was planning on doing pre-orders, I'm trying to get 500 chips set aside, so when they are done they are ready to go

I am very interested in projects of this nature since I see them as having a very healthy solution hardening and trajectory shaping impact on the crypto-currency ecosystems.  I already ordered (1) of the ASICMINER pieces to demonstrate an interest.

I am extra sensitive to open-source and will strongly favor any efforts which display open characteristics as much as possible.  What little I know of Avalon and Bkk seem very positive in this regard.

Watching with significant interest.

Simplest but most effective mistake to make Tongue

Any idea on timescale for when you'll be developing or selling this? Getting chips sounds pretty final!? Grin

As long as price wasn't over $35 with the ASIC I would be interested.

Any projections on the MHash/s? Or hopefully GHash/s?

I have show interest in the USB Block Erupter Miner that is also being advertised in this topic. The unit is past the drafting stage and working prototypes have been made. The price is BTC1.99 .

Since this Avalon miner will have a lower output and wont be ready to ship for a couple months, what will the price be with the Avalon chip? If the price is estimated to be below $100 than I would say it's a scam.

HeroC,
Avalon chips hash at ~280 MH/s

An avalon chip is around $12 and that is a pretty realistic price honestly...

But it's a BTC miner. It can't and won't mine LTC.

I understand it wont mine ltc. What I said was payment. I might end up getting the eruptor miner instead.

@BkkCoins:
1) What's the BOM for that? (part specs)
2) Looking at the small size of this, it should be feasible to make a 2-4 chip version of this, with very minor modifications. That would be an excellent choice as it would beat most GPU's and FPGA's. People seem to insist on USB hubs and so on, but that is completely irrelevant if one just replaces the USB power with an external standard 5V@2-3A (10-15W) supply.

In any case, if you can get this working, I'd like to buy one of these from you for a public art project to promote crypto-currency adoption. [I know it may sound little, but as I have given up on making any kind of profit on this subject, I've moved towards not-for-profit-projects that help educate people about the future of banking and currencies.]

2) I think it would be a big headache for Bkkcoins to go this route as a lot of non-savvy IT people (who don't read) would just complain that their USB miner isn't working and let's face it, we can already see so many of these people in these forums.

If DIY doesn't scare you off then nothing should.

Also I think this thread was started by someone other than BKKcoins right?

He is the one doing the dance with the chips etc.

A single is a great idea if you got the chips.

Best idea would be to ask BKKcoins if he would be interested in a group buy sent directly to him for 10K chips. But that would also be a lot to ask... it was mentioned above though by someone else.
