There are many people who intend to scam others by pretending to develop a profitable project.
But there are some clues to identify their act, without legit evidence about the project, it's more likely as scam.
Even ICOs project without legal approvement from authority could be ended loss for investors due to devs team fail to achieve their goals.

Scam act is inevitable in the world of bitcoin because bitcoin is just like market place in the real world where people come from diverse of area while some come to buy, some to sell and some come to steal. However, most of the ICO owner found as scammer don't have or held a signature campaign and I will advice people not to trust any ICO which don't have any signature campaign on here.

No, scammers are everywhere. There are also legit projects here and you just nee to know who's real and who's not. I don't know if you've been to other sites like Facebook because scammers here is just a small number compared to that site.

So if we are talking about proportions and ratios, it seems you are saying the number of fraudsters per 100 is more here than Facebook based on the total number of users. This site has a fraction of users compared to Facebook but according to you it seems there are more scammers here pro-rata.

Due to the ability of bitcoin making people rich overnight. There's no way we won't have a lot of scammer in the world of bitcoin, my advise is that we should be more careful and seek advise from people before diving into any sort of project or investment.

No need to compere with one site with the other site, we talk about the scammers and as you know we can avoid just with read the project, whitepaper carefully also read the last project the developer. Many people scamed here becose the profit, with small deposit gain a huge profit in short time. it's weird for me and need answer what makes that coin price too high after ICO/Pre-sale Token.

I think that scam projects will often make bold claims about their product even though said project offers nothing new or disruptive. It’s not likely that a certain blockchain platform or cryptocurrency will end poverty, fix global warming or replace the internet. This can also be truth for how they expect the community or markets to respond to the product. If someone claims their cryptocurrency will replace Bitcoin, get a disproportionate amount of users, or increase by 100x in the price charts, you can add that project to the scam list.

Oh! Topic seems to become a bit confusing -
started like more about theft when people asking for pre-payment and just disappear
ended with scam ICOs
I expected to read more on the last one
Any "ICOs black-list" available???

That's because a lot of people are concerned with ICOs, theses times Wink
I'm pretty sure there's a list somewhere, on the web. However, you shouldn't make your decisions over a single source of information, I advise you to make your own analysis of the ICO you're planning to invest in. Just get a look at the community besides it, who are they, why they joined in... Usually, theses are the prime indicators of an ICO's health. Try to get information on the creator: if they try to hide their identity at all costs, then it's obviously fishy.
No one can hide its identity, nowadays: even Satoshi Sakamoto's true identity has been discovered by the NSA, using only his public emails and posts on forums, so, there's no point to do this anymore.
Anyway, people creating ICOs should be proud of what they are doing, and who they are. That's a sigil of trustworthiness, he gives you all the necessary infos on him to sue him if it goes sideways, ahah

To get back to our discussion, yeah, lots of scammers. The thing is, scammers are just thieves connected to the internet, and thieves likes money. What this forum is about? Future's money. Of course they are drawn here, that's easy money !

However, it has been proved that you can trace bitcoin transactions from one person to another, using only the blockchain explorer. Some shady ad-schemes has been shat down thanks to that new kind of data analysis.
To put it in another way, if you really get scammed by a lot, you might be able to arrest the person who did this to you, by simply calling the police and explain what happened. (I hope your country allow bitcoins, though)

Thank a lot for all the detailed explanations! Highly appreciated. However, not sure police and law have at the moment enough background and legal cases to intervene...not sure one can be prosecuted in any country for some crypto-related theft...No laws are ready yet Sad. that I think opens a lot of ways for scammers. For ICOs it's clear and true - thanks again!

It seems to me that now there are too many such projects on the market. Legalization, on the one hand, will make it a crime, on the other hand, there will be a huge outflow of people from the industry. Choosing between the scammers and the explosion of the bubble that is now ... I do not even know what to choose

That is why we need to be smart. Scammers will continue as long as they can scam anyone. We can avoid it by doing research and reading feedbacks.

ok, there are a lot of scammer but that is why the forum has a trust network.
If you have made a nice and clean deal with someone you can add him in your list as trustworhty and also you can reference the transaction or deal made linking a message on the forum.
This will construct a network of trusty people and you can help him and yourself (both will gain trust score)

about scammer in this forum, there is nothing more than has been already said.. there are A LOT

good luck

Thats why we do have trust system on this forum which is really a good feature which we can able to have a preference if a certain person is trust-able or not. There are lots of scammers on this online world not only on this forum but as a general. We should not really have a greedy mind so that we wont easily fall into the pit of scams.

There will always be scammers as long as money is involved. Others would want to earn their keep the easier way so they resort to scamming. One cannot really be scammer proof as some of these scammers talk slick and fast then run away with your money just like how you got robbed in broad daylight. The best thing to do is to do research first before investing in anything and see if their background checks out. Always keep your money close to you.

I can not agree more Sir, there is no other reasons to scam people than just MONEY.
The need of people for income triggers them to enter and consider anything as job just to earn. They trust everything that promotes job.
Some ends up making up things just to play others mind and earn from it. Maybe caused by needs or just greed.
Research alone is not enough in my opinion Sir, scammers are not just good in advertising but also good in creating own background articles of their projects.
I think that the best thing to do here is assuring that the main promoter himself can provide all the information you needed to know. This way you will have background and know if the promoters are really updating things about the project.

I agree with you mate, in this forum it can minimize the number of scammer because we always give important to our account which having a good value in the long run that is why the individuals are not attempting to scam other users specially for those higher ranked in this forum, but as i read in some thread here there are some ICO's are not legit they showing good project to get more investors then after that they will not give the profit of the investors together the capital.
