Hi guys, right now we have a lot of exciting new icos coming. I am not starting this thread, so I do not have to do my own research. I am starting this thread, because as a community we can share our knowledge, hint others in directions they did not see, spread our knowledge and let the community (and our bank accounts ) grow. Soon there a following icos, which really spark my interest and I think everyone of them is worth participating. Civic Status openANX Tezos tenX Wagerr Dcorp Omisego There are too many icos. One can not participate in all of them. Please share with all of us your thoughts and advice about these icos and may add more, which spark your interest! We all can profit from this. I will also add websites, infos and my thoughts, which will hopefully help everyone as well. Cheers

Here's my knowledge in a nutshell; all ICOs are scams. No exceptions.
Slightly longer but still short version: we have a lot of new, mostly lazy people in crypto thanks to the rise of Bitcoin who look at this as a gold rush and want a quick and easy buck and consider mindlessly gambling with ICOs as smart investments. Your 11-day-old account is a testament to that. While I'm not against gambling as long as the participants are understanding what they're doing (I lived off of playing onlike poker for years) ICOs are nothing but a distilled and rotten form of gambling without rules. It's like a game of cards where the cards absolutely doesn't matter and you just give your money to the house which decides if you won or not. This phase in crypto is even more detrimental then the "every wallet has a keylogger or trojan" phase following the "every coin is heavily premined" era (which seem to have a comeback).

That is really true. I participated in a recent ICO and the way the dev are behaving, I think I just donated my money. In other words, gambling as you said.

Depends if the devs decide the project is actually worth working on or if they will just completely ignore it and essentially take your money and run. As the second guy said, it's gambling. Either profit or bust, something extremely risky. There have been successful crowdsales including Ethereum but that was a long time ago and the times are different nowadays.

Thing is, if a dev or group of devs are confident in their project, they should finance it themselves. That at least shows that they are confident and not just want a quick payday. They should launch as PoW as it's still the only fair initial distribution method and mine it themselves or buy cheap early coins and hold if they're confident they can deliver as that would make them great profit. Or even make it so they get a cut automatically for a period of time from every block, Zcash style (but not as much as 20%). That way they're incentivized to keep improving the project and can't just get an initial payment and lost all incentive to continue and not just disappear. And ICOs are going against everything crypto stands for; it's a centralized form of inital fund distribution.

ICOs (especially ones with Pre-ICOs) are just ponzi schemes. I'm not above making a quick buck on them, but I wouldn't trust any of them. And after the fact, they are still horribly distributed. If an initial holder of ETH is still holding everything and decided he wants to cash out all at once, you can guess what will happen to your "investment". Look at Civic - only 33% will be owned by the public. ICOs to me are like stock options (all or nothing gamble) for a short term gain. That being said, I look for projects that are novel, or purport features that are better than like coins and seem legit. All I really look for in ICOs are projects that others will buy into.

Not all of them are scams but most of them are potential scams and some part of them are exactly scams. It's more like gambling as you mentioned above. Isn't there any süper ICO? Yes there is but this happens once in a while.

ICO thing isn't different from real World investor funded startups. Majority of startups end up failing and investors lose money. I believe Investors are aware of the risk involved. The only difference between the two is that ICO allows small investors to participate. Business and innovation are all about risk takin Though I believe there should be some basic rules guiding the ICO

For me, i am interested in Status and OpenAnx from your list. The mobile market is huge and profitable, most of us are on mobile now. As for OpenAnx, i always love the idea of a Decentralized Exchange, so this is my personal preference. Another Decentralized Exchange I have invested is NVO.io. There are two more ICOs in the loan niche which i am interested in, they are Populous and Hive dealing with invoice financing. Cheers!

ICO is not scam, but in most cases is used as tool for enrichment of few developers and whales in their cooperation. I believe this already slowly changing, because everybody now see clearly, they can get more money if they deliver product and provide support for their product. Best example is ETH. It turns out that some kind of developers funding is necessary and ICO is favored on market, because it is fastest way till results.

I agree, DCORP so far has looked very promising, good dev team, very good marketing team, and the core idea is also decent. But will have to see when the development happens and the coin actually comes out. But I feel its worth considering at the moment.

New to the forum but have been buying coins for about 2 years now. IMO, with the amount of money flowing into crypto at the moment many ICOs will be "profitable", if only for a short time, given the devs don't just pack it in after the ICO completes.
However, after a short pump, most will begin to crash once the market realises they are nothing more than a cool name and logo, hastily thrown together whitepaper and flashy marketing campaign driven by a community of people only interested in making profit from the coin.
The coins with a committed dev team and legitimate technology will be the ones that thrive over time.

It depends of your skill to select good and less good ICOs. As for me, I invested in Waves, Lisk, EDG, TaaS, ZrCoin and all ended being profitable to me. Calling throwing money at an anon dev in exchange for a few random images and promises and some worthless coins with arbitrary value the dev pulled out of thin air for free "a skill" is nothing but a stretch even with the best intentions. Anecdotal evidence of winning is not an evidence of long term profitability. You can win on a slotmachine 10 times in a row and still end up losing at the end of the day. This being your first comment - defending ICOs - show how fucked the crypto scene is. Here's my knowledge in a nutshell; all ICOs are scams. No exceptions.

Over the years I have never ever participated in any ICOs. Sure, I'm a miner but ICO coins ARE premined which simply and undoubtedly means their initial distribution is centralized - which is a terrible way to start coins and it's literally against everything crypto was designed to stand for. But we have a bunch of newbies looking for the new gold rush and too lazy to actually care about cryptos so we have all these blatant scams that we call ICOs. And your signature is advertising one of these mindless adventures for a few slices of pizza worth of profits...

Calling "ALL ICO'S ARE SCAM" is just making no sense. this is like calling you, me and every one else a scam.
Sure, many of them are fishy and 1 of them (Afiak) was a scam not so long ago.
But most of them proven them self.
But if some one want to invest, he need to pay attention to all of the important signs.
If you look at projects such as DRP, Stratis, Lisk and latly Status you can clearly see amazing staff/marketing and even products that are just amazing (Like Status android app).
You can see they have insane amount of community supporters.
And yeah, who ever invested in Stratis for the long run is now a millionare.
I guess that this is what OP is looking for.
Investing on * ICO making no sense. but ofc it's also about gambling as no one can tell how the products will workout.

How can something be not a scam when it's starting out with a centrilzed initial coin distribution? How is that an acceptable method of initial distribution when people can only get in with their wallets based on purely promises? On paper you would have to be a dumbass to invest into ICOs. Each coin is created by the "dev" for absolutely free and he's trying to convience people they're worth something. It's like trying to sell handfuls of dirt to random people. That shit would never work on the streets but it seems like it works in crypto which should be an intelligent community. Mined coins at least have a floor price and not completely arbitrary (like the dev saying each coin is worth X satoshis) and everyone can get some in exchange for electricity unlike ICOs where a few whales pump and dump the coin. And all the people who defend ICOs I've barely seen anyone holding coins long term, they're all just waiting for the first pump and they dump and pat themselves on their backs as if they were pro investors. It's retarded, really.

A few lucky people is just anecdotal evidence; similarily every ponzi has some winners and a shitton of losers. And sure there are some long term holders, they're in the very small minority. ICOs are generally a fast exchange of funds, rarely anyone holds long term. Long term being more than a few months.

You and a few other people making profits is not necessarily indicative whether or not an ICO is a scam or not. And the beauty of ICOs is the devs doesn't even have to disappear, just pick up the massive funds and grossly underdeliver while leaving crumbs with soon™ written on them.

Okay, what's the next great overhyped scam that others will buy guys? I mean "great projects that everyone believes in" I've only got 5% holdings in ICOs currently. Need another 5%. Primalbase - never had any luck dumping something with a higher value than BTC - psychological barrier in trading Tezos - would have great turnover except no hard cap stated currently so it's initial valuation will be too high for a great flip Suncontract - this may be of use - I'll have to dig into further. Anyone know any underhyped ones with a novel idea that will be hyped after the ICO? Anyone know of any real coins coming (non-ICO, non-premined, devs will be paid 10% or less as its mined)?

I strongly believe Primalbase is one of the rare serious project to focus at the moment. The team is really good and the concept has a real potential. It is well worth to read and read more about it.
Yes, that is also why I choose to participate in the signature campaign of this project. The team is powerful with the support of the Vitalik, and the road-map is promising.

Most of the ICOs out there are scam so you should invest only in that ICOs who have a very very good development team who will take care of the hard earned money you invest. Currently i am looking out for tezos and suncontract. I really loved their concept.

Not all ICO are scams.
There are project out there with dev/team believing in what they do. ICOs simply give the possibility to investors to help developing a product and, if everything goes well, earn something from it.

There are many upcoming ICOs, there is scam and there is legit. It depends on the developers if they will make the seriously. So we need to choose what upcoming ICOs we will going to invest and before we invest to prevent our money to be risky we should read the whitepaper again and again then they should need to use escrow for the payments.

Not all of them are scam and I'm ICO believer. There are so many ICO who have profited me with there smart contracts. Currently I'm holding 5-6 different ICO in which CIVIC DCORP and OTX are the one which I be.ive most. DCORP has done most of the investment by raising millions of dollars through their pre sale phase. Know that you should be strategic investor and not doubtful. TenX from your list is another ICO which has fully developed product that TenX debit card. It is the only reason it will get most of the benefits for it self and to the shareholders.

Well ICO's is just big hype and for lazy people. You can still buy those coins/assets once it goes live @ exchanges in a similar ICO price

Most ICOs are indeed scams. Many are ponzi schemes wrapped in a pretty web site and weak white paper. If people believe in this space, they should put most of their eggs in BTC and HODL for the long term, at least 5 to 10 years or longer. That would be the best bet. But, as far as crowd sales and ICOs that look like they have some merit, NVO and DCORP seem reasonable. Granted, both are fighting an uphill battle, but anyone investing in ICOs is making a wager. However, some but not all ICO's are more promising than putting your money on Red at the roulette table.

I would pick DCORP from them, not only because im promoting them and have a signature Grin They have a great project and a very good team of developers. Nicely talking with community. Also they have a graph of plans that they want to do in the near future and they have toons of advertisments everywhere Smiley

Here's my knowledge in a nutshell; all ICOs are scams. No exceptions. It's like a game of cards where the cards absolutely doesn't matter and you just give your money to the house which decides if you won or not. This phase in crypto is even more detrimental then the "every wallet has a keylogger or trojan" phase following the "every coin is heavily premined" era (which seem to have a comeback).
What do you think, if crypto-people would choose ICO to invest more consciously, believe in its idea and follow its development, which motivates investors to take part in project development, make ICO creators consider their suggestion, development idea? Or am I extremely naive?

According to me all ICO's are not scam. All start-ups won't have money to invest. That is the point where many ideas are dumped into the sea. Even though there are some organizations which help start-ups. It is not as easy as said. There may be a lot of delays and restrictions. In such cases, ICO is the best option for an entrepreneur. As that said, I won't support all the ICO's.ICO is a good option for a start-up. But some scammers are degrading the importance of ICO.As we can see Ethereum has evolved after conducting a crowdsale. There are many good companies involving in ICO's as well as scams.
Though it is not tough to know which is real and which is a scam.We will not invest our hard earned money into a scam site without researching about it.If we do so, then it is our fault basically.
Currently, I am interested in investing in a few ICO's and they are Bowhead, OPUs(done), bitJob, Paragon.

One that caught my eye was Crowdholding, since they are in their pre-sale it's a great chance to get more for your money. They match all the criteria i look for in a ICO / Pre sale (good strong team on all fronts, solid ideology, finite coins and a good whitepaper) Their ICO starts the 1st of November. https://ico.crowdholding.com/

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2159401.012 September new PLAN=super investment proposal plan queue 1) add a token to the exchange yobit.net, and start sales 2) add a token to the coinmarketcap.com, and there will be a large sale of coins https://yobit.net/en/addcoin/super investment proposal, for placing the token you need 0.1btc + (0.01btc = technical need) = 0.11BTC, I will instead give you 5000 tokens The starting price of the coin FERRARIUM will be 1FERR = 0.0029ETH = 0.0002060456BTC MIN 5000FERR=1.0302BTC Conditions. 1) Do not spoil the beginning of sales of tokens 2) Follow the rules of the stock exchange 3) I believe it will turn out without problems, we will add a token to the exchange, but 1. if the exchange does not add a token, how many-money will they return to the investor. 2. if the exchange does not allow you to set the price of 0.0029etn coins, then will give 5000 you more coins and you will have to wait for the coin to grow and sell the tokens (99% price will be 0.0029ETH = 0.00020604BTC) 3. Do not do evil. 4. I value the beginning of sales of the token, so I hope for honest cooperationWill be removed that would not provoke the owners of the stock exchange. 5. I 'd like to define the upcoming ICO for reOrder as interesting. But can you tell me does it show chances to succeed? With their product inventors aim to exceed the number or restaurants/cafes/hotels who accept BTC on the spot (not only in New York, I suppose). I hope they'll create a video about their product to get a better overview how the tablet and the system works. This project might be also interesting for fiat investors, though tight connection to the crypto world makes it interesting for crypto-people as well. They call it "Fiat-To-Cryptocurrency Gateway". Ok, profis, which forecast do you have for this project http://ico.reorder.world/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/reOrder-WhitePaper-eng.pdf? Will I lose or rather win?

Cheers The ICO which has really sparked my interest is reOrder - https://ico.reorder.world. Their idea is fresh and their product (which is already working) will always be in demand as terminals they are promoting will be useful for any participant - food institution owners, institution visitors and institution stuff. Check their project and see for yourself that this idea is really promising.

I currently waiting for PRE-ICO stage of MIRA https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2367768.0, it is a solid team behind project, and I learned a whitepaper, and I found how they want to solve existing problems, and for it's clear. They create a special box to store lots of crypto which you can download this and it become an off chain, completely anonymous and secure. The Mira tokens are called the solutions, it is going to be used as an internal currency for the Mira's blockchain (ethereum based) and for paying Mira's commissions.

100% correct! DYOR is the most important when it comes to deciding which ICOs to invest in. Getting opinions on a forum is a good a good way to hear about ICOs, but people should not invest until they have learned more about the tech, team and timeline.

I think for the next step ICO development direction is the bank direction, to decentralized banking. Blockchain unique encryption technology with advanced bank transactions and matching system can make our wallet and transaction security to be the greatest protection. I think you can look at BANKEX this project, bankex start ICO the day after tomorrow.
