Why do people pray?

some ask for guidance, blessings, forgiveness and some just pray to worship and show their intimate faith towards their saviour. Here we have different races and religion so let us just respect each others belief and just avoid to discriminate the other races. I tell this because as i can see right in our society people tend to evaluate who are superior

People pray because they understand its failure. It's obvious begging. But they understand that nobody will give nothing to them and therefore appeal to a non-existent God. Preachers are encouraged to do and try to make money. As a result, people are without money and without asking.

People pray because they need someone to talk to regarding to the things they experienced difficulties. They are asking and seeking for God's help. They are thinking that no one could help them, no one can understand their situation. Even if they want to give up, they still fighting because through praying they feel that they have an alliance and opportunity to survive.

Well the point is that we can get a new car or anything we actually want only when the God is satisfied with us.
Religion says be modest and dont get rude when everything is good and dont get humiliated when it is not good situation.
If our objective is to please the God and it is our primary objective and other things like cars, money etc. we will get them and we will know that only the God can give us the strength and focus and mind to get what we want.

I have noticed this also. In the past the only time I have "prayed" in my head was when in despair.

We just remember God when we are in the worst situation. Seeking for help and guidance but when we are so much happy we don't even bother to thank him. For me prayer should be solemn and shouldn't be focused on yourself but for others.

 For me praying is the way to cummunicate in our God. Peoples are praying to our God for the forgiveness of their sins, because God will forgive us. And by praying we share our problem in God. Some people are praying to God because they want a guidance and strength to face the different problems in their daily life. By, praying it helps us to decides of how we are going to solve our problem.  Praying to God is good, because God is always here to listen our pray, and God will give mercy to us.

Prayer is the spiritual need that man needs in his life. Man is the one who needs God, not the other way around. By praying and remembering Allah our hearts are serene, avoid spiritual diseases such as anxiety, fear, anxiety, hesitation and so on.

Praying is when you seek the solitude and peacefulness in your life.
Why do people pray? Maybe they need strength. Maybe they need a holy intervention. Its not always that we wish for something when we pray. Sometime we just sit there , close our eyes, feel our soul , feed our soul, just stay there and feel the true essence of praying. People pray because we are human fragile and weak. In my opinion, praying is just another way to run away from the problems without resolving them. Someone who prays believe that the "god" will solve the issue for him, rather than he putting some effort in that direction.

Praying is a work that give us strength to do something in our life that we can't do and ask forgiveness in god for do a bad things that happen in our lives. I believe in god that when i pray i feel so bless, i see the presence of god and i'm becoming strong.

I don't pray. But I have the suspicion that praying was never intended as a "fix my problems" type of thing, and more as a means to get people to subconsciously steer their lives into the direction that they want to move towards.
If you constantly focus on what you want, you will base your life around that even without realizing what you're doing. Praying is one way to achieve this for those that run through life mostly unconscious. I do believe that "prophets" and what not actually understood how reality and humans work, but needed a specific way to communicate it to them to make sure that it would be followed.
Unfortunately a lot of greedy shitheads realized that it could be used to manipulate people as well, so religion went down a bad road.

There are a lot of very valuable lessons to be found in any religion though, even if you don't believe in God.
