I also had the luck with some alt coins in the past (LTC and PPC for example which I got into pretty early)
Right now I'm looking to get my hands onto some new alt coins. Smiley

Litecoin and ppc were a safe bet from the start. Maybe noone expected to explode that much but they were looking good anyway.
Nowadays people talk about dogecoin  Shocked

I don't think that a fffuuucoin or lolcoin would have success in any way.
It's just because of that fucking dog. That's all.

People start laughing reading through the UI of the Dogecoin Wallet.
The risk of this "funny viral oriented" coins is that someday people stop finding it funny and this is where it dies.
Right now nobody knows how long Doge will make it on the viral train.

Other memes have their chance too, but not all of them. Smiley

I'd also create some own currency with a high quality UI and overall clean and professional identity with some new viral potential. But that would have been all I could do since I'm no coding guy. Wink I'm more a creative and marketing guy.
Wanted to offer some people creating their own currency to help them with the visual work. But it seemed like everyone I got in touch with just had a crappy concept or already had a good logo etc. (Which didn't look good at all.)

It's a bit sad that so much alt coins are being developed which don't have any good looking UI / Identity. Most of them don't really offer innovative concepts so the only thing that's left with a standard concept: A creative name and making that shit look good.

Hello, new to mining and I have been trying dogecoin and lottocoin at the moment while I wait for my r9 290s to get here.
I have a question about solo mining. I made a .conf file for the alt coin I want to mine and create a .bat file such as "cgminer.exe -o 127.0.0.1:22555 -u username -p pw"
In the cmd window I get nothing but hash lines but never a new block detected message. Am I missing something? Also for the rpcallowip=127.0.0.* part in the .conf file, do I have to write a number in the * part?

Dogecoin is amazing. I thought it was just a joke until yesterday, then decided to mine for the hell of it for a couple of hours - and with the payouts you got, you could have been a dogecoin millionaire within a day! One night later, there's twice the miners and twice the difficulty, so now you get quarter the profits and they are likely going down all the time.

On the positive side... This means that my mountains of shiba inu currency may actually be worth some real money at some point in the future! Such wealth!

At the altcoins subforum or at the community sites/forums of each alt currency that you want to check.

I do not have a powerful pc for mining and I am new to cyprotcurrency. I do not intend on making a serious profit, but it would be nice to mine while I sleep since I usually leave my pc on. Should I stick to bitcoin mining or is there a altcoin that is "weak" pc friendly?

Leaveing your pc open at night is not the same are running a miner. Your gpu will be working at 100% and that means heat, noise and power consumption.
