From the above, I assume they will be either giving you a private key or getting you to confirm a wallet address to send it to

How can I obtain the private key, or a seed for the private key (as I can do in an electrum wallet), in the Obsidian wallet? All I could find was how to encrypt the wallet, but that would not protect from for example my computer crashing.

edit: making a backup for the wallet, although it is saved as a file and thus must be stored digitally, is of course a way to protect against a crashing computer, although I would prefer being able to write down a seed on a piece of paper. However, I tried the backup function, but after saving the file, how do I use it? How would I restore my wallet from the backup file? I would like to understand this before I transfer the coins I bought in the ICO

Unlock wallet then type ' dumpprivkey <obsidianaddress> ' in the console

You will find the console in the wallet

they were having some problems ,I think we will receive your coins within a few days

The issue was simply that our SSL certificate needed to be updated, as we performed a pre-planned migration to new hosting.
All is now working as expected.
