There are 2 kinds of airdrops a week.
First one is for the Onion holders happens on Fridays and they are rewarded by the number of Onions in their wallet so the more you hold the more you get.
And the second one happens on Sunday rewards DeepOnion forum members for their activity on the forum.

The first one distributes 90% of the airdrop amount (currently 225 000 Onions in total)
The seconds one distributes 10% of the airdrop amount (currently 25 000 Onions in total).

Apparently new investors are joining, because the timing for those who are already eligible for the airdrop would not be ideal as we are in the no move period and the additional Onions bought by them would not be counted for the airdrop distribution purpose anyway. Maybe people are simply selling BTC and altcoins in order to buy DO, because of a huge sudden DO FOMO
