Myetherwalelt for Ether based coins. For the rest I'd generally get the dev made/recommended one.

Or use Trezor or something like that if the coin is supported.

I haven't started to hold any altcoins till date, from the users suggestion found myetherwallet to be the best for holding of altcoins. Will give a try soon, as my entire focus at present is over bitcoin. Slowly need to learn about the different altcoins too.

It doesn't matter what wallet I'm use. There is only matter where do you keep private keys and how do you provide safety at your PC. I suggest to use hardware wallets (Ledger Nano S for instanse) if you have big deposit.

very many wallets that you can use. I've always used myetherwallet.com, and waves. I think this is the safest place among other wallets.

I personally think Coinomi is a great option that holds a lot of alts, still someone said MEW and that really covers ETH and every ERC-20 token safely, that os if you're careful and don't fall into any phishing scams as I did.

Really depends on the alts coins that you want to store. For ERC20 based tokens, myetherwallet is a good choice and for waves tokens, waveslite is a great wallet to store them. In case of bitcoin, paper wallet is the best. If you are much worried about your security, go for hardware wallet such as ledger nano-s which supports a lot of coins.

+1 for Coinomi. Nice Android app with regular updates, many coins supported, including ERC20 tokens.

Because you asking the best and most trusted wallet and If you are going to store a lot of coins, the answer is cold storage because it doesn't connect to the internet so there are zero possibilities of you getting hacked, for example, you can use paper wallet it's mean you write down your private key to a piece of paper or Hardware wallets, it's a physical device that holds private key kind of USB Storage, just plug in the devices you want to send or receive some money.

What is the best and trusted wallet for lots of altcoins?
In mu opinion the best and trusted wallet altcoin I think the wallet to store a safe altcoin myetherwallet. But lately a lot of ignorant and irresponsible hands spread myetherwallet phishing links. So you must be careful and pay close attention to the link you use. To date myetherwallet remains the best. Peace myetherwallet

It's not possible to fully trust. There is a security obligation in all.
The lesser evil myether. This is safer than another

Is there an option somewhere in the online or offline wallets to get notification for an incoming token? Such notification would be very handy indeed for both airdrops and ICO bought tokens!

The first wallet comes in my mind is Coinomi. Coinomi is so called multiwallet. It suppors more than 70 blockchains and some hundreds of tokens. There are rumors that because it's popularity the service is used by all sorts of frauds.

I believe Coinomi developers work on this.

For bitcoins, I only use our local wallet which is supported / backed up by a company which has a hotline number and an actual office. If for ETH based tokens and ETH, I only use MEW, preferably KEYSTORE File (UTC/JSON) which has a password encryption as I find it safe to use and you can access your wallet even if you are not in your own desktop (as long you have the file). The other altcoin that I currently have is XMR, which I all stored in a cold storage wallet that I can use and monitor even I am offline (without an internet access). Also, it is advisable, if you are focusing on a certain altcoin, to use cold storage wallet. This is to prevent such loss of your coins in an instant, as I find other web based or online wallets not really secure, if you can also avoid using exchange wallets then better do so, as they are not invulnerable to an attack (hack or theft).
