It was a good coin when it was free for joining in the airdrop , actually you need at least 100 tokens to join in the airdrop

you are partially right: for partecipating in friday airdrop yes, you have to have minimum 100 onions on wallet but you can gain them free partecipating in sunday airdrop
the latter is based only on activity in official deeponion fourm for posting and doing tasks, you can earn that amount or even more in only one week

you are still in time to partecipate since there are going to be 20 more weekly airdrops ;-)

I wouldn't consider DeepOnion a "simple coin" with no "special features" ... It has a few unique features that no other anonymous coins have.

And the airdrop is still free. All you have to do is post on the official forums and you'll get free Onions. Once you have 100 you can participate in the main airdrop.

Look at any other altcoins, you will see that pretty much all of them are far off from their all time highs in BTC. Only a few are actually higher, It's the way the market has been with BTC increasing so much.

It is worth buying now because the price is cheap compared with the other top privacy coins. Deeponion will rise up among them so it is worth stocking up now before it goes into double digit$.

It has great community support, with great momentum...
There is plenty of coins still to be mined
it has several features to be developed in the future..
The price is on the increase

forgetting all the hype and what not, these features make a coin worth investing no matter what it is.

[Q] How many transactions per second can DeepOnion handle?

[Answer]: The transactions per second depends on the block size and block interval. The average transaction size is about 500 Bytes. The DeepOnion blocksize is 1.5MB, so each block can hold about 3000 transactions. Now the block interval: DeepOnion is a mixed PoW/PoS coin, PoW interval is 240 second on average, but PoS is a lot more frequent, target at 60 sec. This means our theoretical combined block time is 48 seconds (240 / 5).

To verify this, we checked last 24 hours blocks, this is what we get:
- block 223460 occurs at Nov 25, 2017 11:59:36AM
- block 225285 occurs at Nov 26, 2017 11:59:05AM
This means we have 1825 blocks in 24 hours, which means our average block time is 47 second, which perfectly matches our designed target block time.

Thus, we have one block 48 second, which can handle 3000 transactions, this mean DeepOnion can handle the maximum transaction rate: 3000/48 = 62.5 tx/second.

As a comparison: bitcoin has block interval 600 sec, and has a block size of 1MB, this translate to a maximum process rate of 3-4 tx/second.

Even with BitcoinCash which increases block size to 8MB, that can process only about 27 tx/second.

DeepOnion is much better that this!!!

At least for now the price is going $2 per onion. But it is not conclusive as to the soundness of the deeponion project. There are several factors that we have to consider. One of which is the continuous airdrop that is happening. I think it will not end soon. There are still a few months left for this project's airdrop. The true performance of this coin will be seen when all rounds of this airdrop will be done. There will for sure some serious dumping.

dumping can happen, but why do you relate it to airdrops? As I see it airdrops dump the price, so the price could actually go up when AD stop.
