Up to March 2016: (but it is “a loooooooong list”)

renderings ..

indulgent tabular listing of all coins+icon: https://minkiz.co/coin/

more economical tabbed listing of name+symbol: https://minkiz.co/coin/name/

raw data ...

Repository: https://github.com/DOACC/individuals (RDF in ntriples).

best list is one above

although I have miners with all kinds of strange coins that are not on any list... some only existed for a few moments or hours.

they are dead and worthless but since i hoard things I will keep them anyway.

indulgent tabular listing of all coins+icon: https://minkiz.co/coin/

The "all the coins" list contains HeavyCoin (HVC) and HobbitCoin (HBC) while the other list and coinmarketcap seem not to have them.
So I guess that this is the bigger list until now.

Coinmarketcap certainly would be a place to look for the list.
But doesn't bitcointalk contain the ANN threads of all the alts as well? Because most of the coins we check on coinmarketcap, they have an ANN thread here on this forum. So maybe they all are here too?

Too much time have to taken to check ANN threads in this forum .

http://coinmarketcap.com/ is better to check.

nearing a 1000 on there.

This is the accurate site to look for Cryptocurrency how far did they go or how much is the total of the market capitalization and if they got a great performance this day this week. Just familiarize the site how to use it and it will definitely give you a great knowledge on what you want specially if you are looking for a coin that has great potential.

Coinmarketcap can only list coins that are listed on an exchange, so there's a whole pile of coins that have never appeared on coinmarketcap ...

To be perfectly honest, we underestimated the reservations against the fuck word. Most of the major exchanges are US based and we thought people were more open in 2014. We had it all, the initial lol moment, people were digging fuckcoin, but no exchange, no matter how hard we tried, was willing  to  add fuckcoin with the FUCK symbol. We even heard of refunded BTC "exchange votes" from the community. This is why there was no update on the fuckcoin wallet.

At least Heavycoin was listed on exchanges back in its time.
So I'd assume that coinmarketcap only shows coins currently on exchanges (or at least delisted not too long ago).

There will no such kind of that list existing on the internet because as you can see, there are many crytos and some of them are unknown and not be used by anyone, some others also were created just for nonsense purposes. You can check the coinmarketcap.com because of most the coin on there have a high volume and well-known by people

Only on exchanges. But I don't think they delete anything ...

Minkiz carries a list of Bittrex delisted coins and Banknote was delisted on 2015-03-08

...

Does coinmarketcap delete dead coins ?

As far as I know, no they don't. Becasue we still see some coins with N/A total market cap. These are all dead coins. If you need specific example, I can give you some.
