Ripple is tough, I don't know. Hence the "??". I have difficulty even calling it a crypto really. Ripple the company can adjust the ledger any time they want which defeats the whole purpose. None the less, they definitely made their mark and deserve a place in crypto history. The best article on the long XRP story i've seen is from Bitmex: https://blog.bitmex.com/the-ripple-story/

Name changes and planned swaps are noted in brackets.

To clarify the difference between 2013 and 2014. 2013 I am doing my best to include every relevant coin, 2014 I'm only adding what people choose to send me so its missing most coins still.

New Bounty Offer!

Up to $300 for 2014 new entries. This is an offer to one person only who would like to spend some serious time on it. First person to want it gets the job, post in this thread if you are interested. I’ll send you $50 for each 50 entries you send me. Must be in same format as mentioned above. Maximum is $300 - all i can afford… So $300 for 300 entries at $1 per crypto added… but i don’t think there are that many. I guess we’ll see if someone takes this on.

Donate to this project:      DOGE:    DPrCF5mGeFxPmvHrmKixVfcLVi5GxB46hc
                                       LTC:       LUM77hzs21dvrLwMVp2eJMsoWJDrhzEZ6Q

If i get some donations i'd like to expand the research here to include github links and brief explanations/clarifications for the coins that have a hard history to follow. Ive been as accurate as possible, but sometimes ANN threads don't adequately show when a blockchain actually launched and went live.

Does anyone know if this exists?

If not, thinking of compiling a list like this myself. Only looking at coins over 3-4 years old. By now a lot of the coins of that era have disappeared, would be helpful to quickly see of the ones that remain which are oldest.

The Wiki list of cryptos is useless and misses tons of coins. Always has been useless, I don't know why...

Yeah wikipedia has listed only a few cryptocurrencies. I don't think it would be easy to find a compiled list of all the cryptocurrencies based on their release date. I found this website, https://www.altcoincalendar.info/calendar

They have listed altcoins according to date, but I don't how accurate it is or the listed coins are in circulation now.

Yeah, compiling a list would be a good idea, but I guess it would take some time. Coinmarketcap has listed around 972 cryptocurrencies, you would have go through each coins announcement or historical data to get the release date.

Update finally on progress with this list. Here it is so far. . . .I'll send a bounty of $20 equivalent in crypto for additions/corrections to 2013 and earlier listings. Please send proof link for additions and corrections.

2014 I'm not completing yet, but happy to add your coin if you send me the link.

It is really quite incredible to look back and see how this has progressed, it's astounding to see that bitcoin was created nearly 2 years before any other coin that is still trading, perhaps this gives some insight in to why bitcoin adoption is still much more than any other coin.

That is so true, so many like me wish we had been paying more attention 7-8 years ago.   Sad

Thanks for all the additions! I'm excited to see this come together myself, always wonder what fits where exactly.

I'm good for the bounties too if you want it, $20 worth. Just send me a pm with an address. Lets say BTC, LTC, DOGE or FTC please.

No worries man, glad to help shed some light. The long term plan here is to get 2013 and earlier locked down. Then if the list is popular and worth it, look at expanding to newer years. I think adding even 2014 would make the task a bit overwhelming, so 2014 is very incomplete....lets give it another year and wait for a few more 2014 coins to die out, then we'll expand.  Wink

In the meantime tho happy to add 2014 coins too, but please give me the links to cmc and ANN threads for proof (like the first submitter did). Thanks!

They had BTG back in 2013? I knew it they planned this for years. lol. every crypto coin has something in it copied from Bitcoin, could any body build a coin from scratch without taking anything from Bitcoin? every coin listed here are now either 1 Sat or 10,000 Sat. Ł is exception.
