We are about to get segwit and this is the first time that we came so close. If we activate segwit, scaling debates will end for another 2-3 years. That's the reason.

At a minimum we *should* be OK until Nov/Dec when ChinaCoin/Ver/etc. might try to fork BTC again.  Still, I do not see their logic, they split BTC, everyone loses, everyone loses BIG, including them.

That also assumes SegWit implements OK and there a re no serious bugs.

Still, BTC just crossed $2500, up $150 since I woke up (visiting Europe).  Confidence is returning IMO.

Well, they are also underestimating their support, like Mike Hearn did. They get so power hungry and lose perspective on the reality. Most people

only support them now, because they want a end to the scaling issues. They still want Bitcoin to succeed... not some Alt Coin/Hard fork, where

Yup! they are simply ready for the time the dump occur, that is why a pump was establish quick and I think that if the segwit has been activated there would be bigger pumps to get ready for, so hallelujah to that, because people are a bit scared with the impending split, they have gone ahead and ready that kind of pump or we haven't notice that there is someone secretly buying bitcoins.

When every hard fork occurs there was certain price pumps happened as price chart history says. Due to price rise most of the people will be ready to the sell or exchange it alts due to upcoming dump but don't do that please. If you increase the supply then they will hold all those bitcoins according to my view.

I am definitely not buying right now, well there are just other forum that have saying that there is someone or something that is secretly buying bitcoin but I am not saying that because of this bitcoin is pumping, but yeah many people right now are afraid of of the upcoming event and there are a few that are already ready for it and knows what they have to do, but it is definitely safer to just get all of your hold bitcoins if you don't have a secure storage for it we can not blame someone who is doing it.

Exactl Thats is because segwit is about to come. Just be happy that it pump again even it was near to the segwit day and i hoped that this will continue until the end of the segwit. Be satisfied always on what you have and let bitcoin price rise for us.

There's a lot of things that are influencing the value, such as the fork coming up in just a week and some days, which has been getting the required amount of signaling and is looking like it will be the fork being used, so that's pumping the value since there is now more confidence in the abilities of the mining community to do things that benefit the community as a whole. Fees should go down, there should be a smaller queue for transactions, it's good all around and people are happy.

I ask this question for the 55th time. WHAT FORK? Why do you post about stuff you obviously know shit about. What fork? Segwit2x support is currently just under 90% and once it gets locked in the rest of the blocks will be orphaned, receiving no fees so they ll all line up and go after SegWit2x.

We will never know the exact reason behind any pump or dump in bitcoin price because lots of factor can act at the same time to make any market move. The recent pump can be considered as quick recovery from correction and panic period.

If tomorrow major mining pools (such as ViaBTC and Antpool) decide to revoke their signaling, we will likely see the biggest Bitcoin crash since the beginning of times both in terms of speed and value. So let's not get overly optimistic now before we actually get the lock-in. As it often happens with other markets (and I guess Bitcoin market is no exception here), such irrational exuberance, unjustified optimism, and elevated sentiment may in fact mean bad things right behind the corner. Last week whales had caused panic since there werent a position from the miners from which road we would go, todays we are almost activating the bip 91 that will activate segwit soo this is the big reason the market is already reacting to those, since the most people wanted this to happen.

BIP91, which is what will activate Segwit is over 80% of miner support in the current lock-in period and the price is increasing due to extreme confidence that finally a problem that has long plagued Bitcoin will be solved.

Do you remember bitcoin prices and other altcoins crashed 3-4 days ago? That helped whales to exploit middle-class's assets. Whales got more wealth by exploting us and they bought cheap coins during panic.

Frankly I don't care about the reason,  and there usually isn't a good one anyway.   Wish I had bought more when we were at $1900, I'll say that though.  More people are buying than selling--that's always the best explanation for a huge rise.  Confidence is coming back, that's good enough.
