Following the tradition to announce the launch of a new altcoin in advance, and in continuation of my previous thread... ...I'd like to announce the launch of Ripple++, which will happen soon. For those who r asking themselves why they should jump to this bandwagon a small comparison below: | __________Ripple++__________ | __________ | __________Ripple__________ | ____________________Note____________________ | Transaction confirmation time: | Almost instant | = | Almost instant | - | Hosting expenses: | 0 * | > | Unknown | * Within GAE free quotas | Availability of the service: | 99.999% * | > | Unknown | * Hosted in Google Cloud | Security: | Thru obscurity | = | Thru obscurity | | User interface: | Very simple | > | Quite complicated | - | Distribution of coins: | Depends on computing power * | > | 100% premine | * Like in Bitcoin | Is REAL money?: | No | = | Noone knows | - | Vulnerability to Sybil attack: | High | = | High * | | Open-source: | Kinda * | = | Kinda * | * Will be published soon not very soon in 100 years | Risk of dump: | Very low | > | Very high * | * OpenCoin can dump all their coins if Ripple comes close to a collapse | Total rating: | 10 / 10 | > | 5 / 10 | |
Those who wish to run their own node could start learning how to host Java application in Google App Engine.

Exciting. Considering the 'idea' behind Ripple is good, but completely ruined by the 100% premine scam and obvious pump and dump possibility of the developers/owners having 100 billion ripple at hand.

Mining needs computing power. Consensus uses other approach.

Guys, I need ur help to test the interface on mobile phones. If u r willing to help, go to https://ripplepp.appspot.com, please. U r supposed to click [Login] and enter a secret phrase. After u press [OK] the browser will generate RSA keys and send a request to the server. I need to know how much time it takes to generate the keys (approximately) and if "0 XXX" appears in "Balance". Thank you in advance. EDIT: Don't launch minting, it's not implemented yet.

Strange, I tried it two additional times with different phrases (thought I maybe had encountered a bug as I used a ü the first time). CPU usage goes to 100%, browser becomes unresponsive and it takes forever. Well, as you are probably using Linux we just blame it on Microsoft

Let's test hashing now - https://ripplepp.appspot.com. My hashrate is 4.2 kh/s in average, but my PC is not very old. I'd like to know what hashrate others have, maybe I will change the difficulty algo. PS: Coins r not minted yet, it's just dumb number crunching.

Mhh, I don't understand how it can be like Ripple -it's too simple. Can I send USD IOUs? Do you mean it's like the XRP part of Ripple? If so, it's just an odd alt-coin. But that's not the main point of Ripple. Anyway, I like there being competition... my 2.3Kh/s are at your service, for now

Well, I spent a few days reading about Ripple consensus. Also, I talked to some guys regarding the issue. The resume is - Ripple consensus is bullshit. It's vulnerable to Sybil attack and there is no way to counteract it without centralization.
So, Ripple is a premined centralized coin. I won't waste my time trying to "fix" it. Period.
