To be honest, I don't see much potential in other coins than Bitcoin. Don't get me wrong I do not say that alt coins are bad but they just won't be accepted on a high scale. Even Bitcoin is not accepted everywhere and implementation costs are high.
Nevertheless I still keep some alt coins but it's mainly for a quick buck.

There are no costs for a business to implement Bitcoin.

With that said, most altcoins which are not shitcoins have their special use cases or offer features that Bitcoin does not.
Monero for example offers complete anonymity.

Problem is that most business owners are to lazy to implement Bitcoin. They won't miss much sales when Bitcoin is not an accepted payment method. So volunteers (Bitcoin supporters) need to explain it's value, potential and implement the system. If Bitcoin gets more populair under business owners they will probably hire someone to do it. I just don't see this happen for 20 other coins.

I only look at altcoins as a means of earning money.
But do they have real real potential to be widely accepted and used in the future? I don't think so.

They exist and will just for trading/mining profits.

But actually this doesn't apply to all of them since some coins introduce new stuff as siacoin and lbry (you can read more about them).
They aren't just some other coins but they introduce a new decentralized system for doing the old things in a different way. That's what attracts me (not talking about price and earnings at this point ).

that is a long list and each of these coins are very different from the others, and each of them have a lot of problems associated with them. i can't just summarize them all for you. you have to go research them one by one.

if trading and money is all you care about then answering is much simpler. all these altcoins are viable source of bitcoin. because all of them get pump and dumped (specially the pump-specific coins like ethereum) and they can give you a big profit on your bitcoins that you hodl!
you just have to find the right time to invest in each of these.

seem to me that the bitcoin is the mother of all coin and altcoin is another branches of cyptocurrency world against bitcoin. bitcoin is head coin and eth, etc, ltc, doge, and so on are alternate currency of bitcoin.

In trading all of that altcoins you mentioned means to me since in trading you need other altcoins to make your profit large and you can earn more better than your investments. But if I have to choose if bitcoin or altcoins I would probably choose both since they all have no stable prices but to clearly understand it with you bitcoin has the big potential of all other cryptocurrencies but if you are into trading also you would also choose both of them.

Most of the altcoins are just copy paste of bitcoin and there are still more altcoins which are just copy paste of other altcoins since there's no restriction on creating a new coin every other person has their own coin. No wonder there will be a time when even you and I will develop our own coin like excubercoin, adbitcocoin etc and will be coming up with an ICO. So actually everyone is finding it to be an opportunity to earn as much money as they can when the cryptocurrency is a boom and flourishing, everyone is leaving no stone unturned to cash in on the opportunity of making huge money by coming up with a new coin. Because of this tendency most of altcoins don't seem to have any future but since bitcoin is original and in fact the pioneer and the root out of which all these altcoins came into existence and most importantly bitcoin has a huge number of supporters and a huge community bitcoin has a very good future. While most of altcoins die after some time or remain confined in one or two fields where they find application or their use bitcoin will remain there forever as it's global and has a mass appeal.

Me too I don't see altcoin like what I've seen in the bitcoins before. They do not have that kind of potential that bitcoins have. But there is some altcoins that have value like ethereum which is having a good price in the market but not as good as what bitcoin can give to us. I think bitcoin is still and will still be the best cryptp currency in the industry.

Other than bitcoin the altcoin market has all sorts of crypto coins with their special uses from those that can be used for insurance purposes, others have a sole purpose for gambling, others altcoins are used to obtain some marijuana so on and so forth... it all comes down to whatever floats your boat.   And from my observation most people use them for trading/investment holding to earn some extra cash.

For me, it's good for bitcoin. I mean, every years there are many new altcoins born with a "new" thing too, that's good for crypto currencies future and it makes bitcoin good too actually. Well, by looking at the price bitcoin is still the top one and almost all altcoins always following the bitcoins price.

Ethereum is catching up. I read various negative headlines about it but I don't know if these issues are enough to put ethereum off the crypto map. Business competition is healthy. We can see a rabbit vs turtle marathon between these two cryptocurrencies in time. In fact, I convince some of my friends to support ethereum in DENT ICO. They join the tokenizing activity at detcoin dot com.

Let's make a change. Change makes you better. Change makes you smarter. Change makes you healthier.

Other altcoin was still under bitcoin because of its characteristics. But I believe that some of them will defeat bitcoin someday. Maybe not this time. But the sad truth was these coins was still doesn't accept as a real currency.

Many of the so-called altcoins have no real potential. Of course, there are a few who have good value and are patronized by a certain community while there are those which are plainly categorized as shitcoins. As of now, it is still about Bitcoin. Many holders of altcoins are just in for the sake of possible quick profits.

But then again, there is an open space for any coin here and it is all up to the market how it would receive and utilize the said coin. Right now, we are abuzz with new coins almost everyday. I don't if it can be good in the long run but am waiting for the possibility that the market would just close its eyes to this kind of introduction barrage.

Yes all altcoins are depended on Bitcoin. We have to change our bitcoins to fiat. First, we have to convert it into Bitcoin and sell our coins this is the process. That is why the altcoins are not growing so fast like Bitcoin. But slowly the exchanges will start to accept altcoins if that happens then the altcoin value will start to increase. Now people are using altcoin to do trading and gambling. When people start to use it in the real world, then these coins will get good value.

This issue can be solved by making a system that automatically exchanges the Bitcoins for the best fiat offer.
However this won't give them the 1:1 rate and will cost money to implement.
This means there have to be extra fees for Bitcoin payments or the owner of the business is a fan of cryptocurrencies and doesn't care about temporary eventual loss.
