Lol guys, no need to fight younger people read this thread too, shouldn't be talking like that. Some people hate goldcoin and that's ok, some people hate bitcoin, some people hate litecoin. Rather than focusing on insulting those who hate the coin, let us focus on taking people who are on the fence about goldcoin or just getting starting to the world of crypto-currencies and recruit them. There are reasons not to like goldcoin and there are reasons to like it. I personally support it, but I don't go hating on people who don't. I don't support other cryto-currencies and I don't want people who support them to go hating on me.

To further this idea from BitshireHashaway,

For those of us that are just getting started, mining a new coin whether it pans out or not is not the point, it is the thrill of getting something/anything accomplished.

The thrill of seeing that little window pop up announcing an inbound transaction can't be beat.

Sure bitcoin is THE place to be in economical terms and actual ROI but the emotional return on a new coin that sends you 10,15,20,100 coins every few minutes for a newbie is nothing short of miraculous and will help grow our budding eco-system beyond what we can fathom.

I agree. I only have a laptop to use/mine on and while it is a high end laptop I'll be luck to see $.50 from terracoin/litecoins (what I mine) in a day. And I have to save it up to large amounts ($40 in Litecoins but only $2 in terracoins) to even get a payout. I love seeing that little window popup, and it is very fun to work with people and try to see something succeed. The only thing I lose is time and while it isn't replaceable I think its worth it:).

gld.vircurpool.com is the pool (as emerefer replied). It can probably still be mined by a laptop but I don't know if you'll make enough for it to be worth it, hashrate is close to 40mh/s and a high end laptop (like mine) can get 60-70kh/s if I really try. I laptop mine terracoin w/ GPU (nvidia 650m) @ 20mh/s and litecoin w/ CPU @ 40mh/s (i7-3740).

I'm glad you've chosen to start with this community, we try to be generous due to the large amounts of initial coins released which most of us got. If you don't have any yet, PM me your address and I'll send some your way.

Vircurex has also shown interest in adding this coin to their exchange
