We can declare this decentralization as independence or freedom day. It was interesting journey from centralization to decentralization. Interesting NEO was never this accessible seeing its current price after what it went up. Still lot of new people are making their way to NEO realizing what is being built and will be delivered in future.

Not really ... This is yet another non-news with a previous announcement of announcement ... This only gives bad rep to the management. It creates artificial hype for nothing. Seriously, they need to stop these teasers and just announce things when they announce them, and let the public decide if it's huge or not, not build up expectations and release news that don't live up to them. On a positive note, good to hear that there is one node that does not belong to the NEO foundation and that there might be more to come.

its a good news, if they become really decentralized then by SEC law the profits are not taxed, so it is BIG news.

This was very interesting because we have seen some recent development from centralized to decentralised and this make to convince about the NEO as long term investment which can help the investors to make sustainable income with the developments NEO is doing.

NEO Entered the Era of Decentralization

On July 4, 2018 at 21:00 (GMT+8), NEO Foundation initiated the election of new consensus nodes, starting the era of decentralization of NEO. The candidate node run by City of Zion, after running smoothly on TestNet for over six months, got elected as the new consensus node. City of Zion (CoZ) is an independent, international group of open source developers working on NEO blockchain.

A webpage has been set up on NEO official website for monitoring NEO blockchain status as well as information of consensus node candidates and their votes. (Weblink: https://neo.org/consensus)

Timeline of NEO decentralization process:

• Nov. 2015: TestNet launch.
• Apr. 2016: ANTSHARES-GUI integrated the consensus node voting system.
• Apr. 2016: ANTSHARES-GUI integrated the consensus node voting system.
• Oct. 2016: MainNet launch. 7 consensus nodes hosted by NEO Council got voted.
• Jul. 2017: ANTSHARES-GUI was renamed to NEO-GUI; updated version was released.
• Jan. 2018: Voting algorithm was optimized.
• Jan. 2018: NEO-GUI was updated to be compatible with the optimized voting algorithm.
• Jan. 2018: The node hosted by CoZ started to run on TestNet.
• Apr. 2018: The node hosted by KPN started to run on TestNet. KPN is one of the largest telecom companies in the Netherlands.
• Apr. 2018: The node hosted by Fenbushi Capital started to run on TestNet. Fenbushi Capital is the first China-based venture capital firm that exclusively invests in Blockchain-enabled companies.
• May 2018: Enhancement of the P2P network.
• Jul. 2018: A monitoring webpage of consensus node candidates was launched.
• Jul. 2018: NEO Foundation voted for new consensus node CoZ.
• End of 2018: NEO Foundation plans to vote KPN and other partners as mainnet consensus nodes.
• 2019: NEO plans to open public campaign for election of all consensus nodes.

 

This is very nice news on NEO to all of us. NEO has entered the era of decentralization. The devs are doing what is right so that people will have more trust and confidence in NEO. Guys, let's expect the good result for all these. Let's HODL!

It is, I didn't say it wasn't, it was just over-hyped (as usual). It's a beginning in the right direction, and it was somehow expected since the new node was operating on the testnet for quite a while ...

Yes there are a lot of projects base on NEO and this is why we should hodl onto our NEO and not panic sell when the price drops, it has dropped lately but so has everything else. I'm a long time hodler of NEO and won't be selling any time soon, will probably buy more as prices are quite good at the moment.

You cannot expect an update or major communication every week or forthright for such advanced programme. It might take a while before something new coming up. In the meanwhile, enjoy some cheap coins and try to make the most out of it. The future might be brighter.

The problem of enjoying cheap coin is that this can be done only when you have money that you can use to buy them, but if your money has all been spent to buy the expensive coins, the cheap coins make you only nervous.

So true, I've more or less spent all the money I can on alts but it's so tempting to buy just now as prices are low and I'm optimistic, not only about NEO, but about the rest of the alts going to go back up again, so should I buy..decision decisions.

Now of course I'm sorry to have missed the bottom, as NEO has then strongly rebounced. But my budget for alts has gone time ago, I have to keep some BTC for long term, no matter what happens...
