So maybe someone can prevent funds being released by sending small amounts to the wallet to hold it hostage. Maybe only withdrawls should be activity

Even if real competitors come in the game later,the good news is that mywish is the 1st one who presented a project on this topic in blockchain so it could give them an advantage over others. New good ideas must be rewarded....

You couldn't close it. If people from the US really want to invest, they can and will invest, you can see this at every ico. But that does not mean that companies shouldnt do their part in preventing it.

How can companies prevent it? Anyone cn go to ico website and buy tokens without kyc. There is no way to prevent accept ip block which is not very effective method
