The title says it all, sick of reading questions about BCC. There is alt subforum, why re these threads here? If I d post something about Etherum here, the entire thread would be moved, right?

maybe theymos figures Bcash is such weak sauce that allowing it to get tarred and feathered in the main forums will teach everyone a lesson about the november hard fork.

Even if that Alt is part of bitcoin and it is of interest to all users of bitcoin. Also still not over and so the subject has the right to be in this thread. It reminds me of the debate about the glass of water half empty or half full.

I agree with the OP in this matter. We are not going to allow Altcoins taking place here, so why allow discussions about BCH?

I saw a Bitcoin Cash thread in Speculation got moved to Altcoin Speculation. So maybe it's just forum by forum, mod by mod, and theymos hasn't opined on the matter.

It doesn't seem like much of a threat to Bitcoin, I guess. With some luck, the Bitcoin Unlimited people will all flock to it, and we can go our separate ways. Maybe that's the idea?

That is true, BCC is altcoin and belongs to another section but I think that admins put it here because of all this confusion and bunch of questions of Bitcoin users regarding August 1st so it would be easier for users to find information and clear the final result. But, yes, eventualy it should be moved to altcoin section.

Anybody can hard fork Bitcoin right now. There could be a billion hard forks from "Nakamoto's ledger"..... are they all Bitcoin? Of course not!

It's not compatible with the original chain, so it's an alt. That's how I see it, anyway. But I don't care if it's talked about on the main forums. I love a little FUD. It's good for the soul! Grin

Well, that's a matter of branding. I mean, "surpasses" in what sense? Cumulative proof of work? Network activity?

Certainly, one can fork Bitcoin's code and try to call it Bitcoin, and maybe a bunch of people will follow. But inevitably, that will be a schism, not a "surpassing" of Bitcoin. I think it's much more likely that there would be multiple viable chains vying for the title of "Bitcoin" than for something like Bitcoin Cash to dominate outright.

Your assumption and conclusion is right but the issue at the moment is the confusion in which people are coming to know more about what is going. And even me, if I want to get an update, I just come to bitcoin discussion rather than the alt section of the forum but I believe in few days everything will become clearer and everyone will know its rightful place without the need to tell them.

I agree and so I am also one of the people who will prefer to see all those threads about Bitcoin Cash moved to the Altcoin section where it shall be. Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash are both differents.
Quote
Bcash is an altcoin based on Bitcoin; since it split, it is now 100% independent from Bitcoin other than the carried-over balances.
We need justice!
Otherwise, we can make different threads about others altcoins in this section as well. I am sure that it can confuse the newbies who recenly started to take interest in Bitcoin and are reading the forum

I think Bitcoin Cash is in a mix of both worlds and  that is Bitcoin and the altcoin faction and it wouldnt be fair for bitcoiners to miss this chance to get their  split coins from the bitcoins they hold because they did not see a thread walking them through on how to get their bitcoin cash BCH. Probably when word gets out about BCH it will find its way to the alt section

It was ok when the threads were being created during hard fork or before hard fork and the appearance of bitcoin cash in such threads was ok but now that everything has come to normal all threads regarding bitcoin cash should be created and moved to altcoins section.
