If you guys are holders, I recommend 3 things:

1. Download the Sia client, download the blockchain.
2. Become a host. Offer up storage to gain more Sia over time.
3. Become a renter. Actually use other hosts.

This network activity will attract other people, help your Sia rank, and cause this nice cycle to begin.

I have the sia wallet downloaded for the last maybe 5 or 6 weeks and its taking forever to sync.
I will be looking to become a host before the year is out after I get the wallet up to date.

SC is in a very bad week. It will go to the deepest if it is 230 STS

Does anyone know if there are any upcoming milestones for Sia? The price (SC/BTC) has not been picking up for weeks now, while other coins are recovering pretty well. It would be nice to know the timelines for any upcoming milestones to better understand the price action in the near future. Thanks!

Do anybody knows what is the MAX Supply of this coin? I've searched for this information a long time but still haven't found a clear answer. If the supply is unlimited or super high it won't go up to couple of dollars for a decade. I own some SIA because its a great project but i don't see it coming high in price due to high supply of the coins.

Got some siacoins and thinking of ditching it...

Realisticly, what can we expect from Siacoin in a year or two?

This depends on your purpose, should you have one? right? Well if you do not have an object or target you better have one.

When you bought sia you should trace a purpose, for example bought sia when this 300 satoshi, spent 1 btc and expect to hold for 6 months to get 2 btc.

Without a goal it becomes difficult

Circulating Supply

Max Coins is?I want to know the total number of this coin

"network will mine coins such that the annual inflation rate is kept permanently at 5%"

No maximum. Every year the coin volume will go up by 5%. We do it this way because we want the coins to be about the storage, not about the speculation. There will be explosive growth in the first 4 years however, so there's still a ton of opportunity to jump on the coin early.

tl;dr: The next release is scheduled around next month and has really interesting features like

  • Simple file sharing between SIA users
  • Possibility of recovery
  • Reduce time to form file contracts
  • ...

Sia is good. Actually, I find that most of the coins are good for long term. If you are patient, it is no doubt that you will earn a good amount of money from holding a coin in a long term. You can invest in litecoin, siacoin, bitcoin or which coin you like. ONly patience will bring you success Cheesy

I bought a bunch of siacoin in the 40 and 60 satoshi, dumped everything between 250 and 300 satoshi, I can never predict the top. Sad

There is no max supply.

Instead they use decreasing inflation:

https://forum.sia.tech/topic/161/about-siacoins-calculation-and-supply

by March of 2026, there will be about 53.5 billion of siacoins available in the market.

Altcoin price movements are difficult to predict, and maybe the current price of siacoin is still low around 250 satoshi, and it seems to be increasing for the next few years

Siacoin is actually for paying the storage fees, so if the value of siacoin increases then storage cost will also increase isn't it ? Isn't that will crash the project also ?

Sia has several competitors including Burst, StorJ and Maidsafe. Projects as IOTA are aiming to implement dezentralized data storage as well by using outsourced nodes (not yet implemented, but planned). In the end, there will probably one project of this kind which survives. The winner takes it all. So, Sia has much value already and I doubt it is worth it.

I was dual mining SiaCoin and ETH. But I'm not sure if I should keep mining it as it's value isn't doing so hot right now.

I feel that sia is under performing compared to the other alt coins.  I will most likely pass on this one.

Burst is no competitor as they don't offer the storage space to someone else. The Burst coin works completly different (proof of capacity).

Yes it's underperforming in comparison to other currencies. Good chance to pick some SIA up. The next release should be right around the corner according to the roadmap.

Thats what I thought too, but apparantly the amount of coins will decrease so the storage price dont increase

Mining sia wont use any notable resources AFAIK, so I dont see why you would stop.
