Well, thanks Azrael, this is damn cool!

rp12b2w3qKUnYDx2fEfoMqPSNrABWb4gEf

could anyone send me 50 ripples there:

rpkDcgsFcnEhvP2XV8Zo2AvQEdUwk7TYfe

so I can apply for the one bitcoin giveaway ;-), I'd like to test the trust feature too ...

Done Smiley

So let me tell you what happened next :-)
- I have 50 XRP thanks to Azrael.
- I fill the grant trust form for 100 BTC
- The page answers red: you need 50.000000012 XRP to to this. I try to check my balance:  it disconnects me
- I reconnect: it says I only have 49 XRP, and the trust area is blank, saying I need more ripples (it says a hundred would be good...)

So I apologize Azrael, I lost one of the precious XRP you gave me. Maybe can you help a bit more?

Cheers

can anyone send me one more ripple so I can play? (in fact, 0.1 should be enough...)

it seems that I now have 49.99999, after the client told me I needed 50.00012 to grant trust (I had 50).
I don't know how this 'money' could volatilize like this by doing nothing.

is this a bug?

Any time you do anything in Ripple, like sending a transaction or granting a line of trust, you use up a tiny bit of XRP.

ok, I understand, but there, it did nothing, since the trust granting was rejected.

again, anyone has 0.1 ripple to spare? rpkDcgsFcnEhvP2XV8Zo2AvQEdUwk7TYfe

To expose and bring awareness to the flaws in the Ripple payment system, I am giving away 1 BTC on Ripple.

This is a social experiment. Therefore, posts not consisting of an Ripple address to send 1 BTC to may be deleted.

How it works

1. Register for a bitcointalk.org forum account if you haven't
2. Complete the following steps in your light (not a full node) Ripple client:

https://i.imgur.com/2jDs2ol.png

So you can copy and paste the address we're sending your bitcoin from, it's rH3bZsvVUhzugvcYuJVoSYCEMHkfK6wHNv

3. Post your address here. I will send at least 1 BTC to your address.

That's it!

I suggest reading RippleScam.org afterwards. Please note that you must exchange your bitcoins with an liquidity provider (Ripple does this automatically, when paths are calculated) in order to withdraw them from a gateway.

You my friend have probably succeeded in creating the first lot of counterfeit bitcoins. When the price of bitcoins have gone down the pan I dont think there will be many people thanking you...

ok, and did you do it twice? I got 50 (now 49.999999...) from a first send, no second one.

(edit) however, from your screen capture, i see that you have a different 'sent to' address.

ok for me. thinks don't work at all for me for the moment.
and I discovered that in ripple economy 50 == 0
I'm curious to see further details of this, while spending my newbie time.
