Few of my friends got email from the Stake that they are giving free 5$ bonus on the deposit of 5$ without any condition of wagering etc ? Is it true ?
Is this offer for everyone or only the selected number of people ?

I just took a look at my email but i didn't receive any email about deposit bonus....

Maybe they send it to those who don't deposit ofted. It will be nice to receive such promotion.

I just checked my email as well but I do not find any email from stake recently. So it must be bonus for selected users only or maybe random bonus but I believe it is not related to VIP members because there is no announcement on the VIP telegram channel about deposit bonus. I tried to find more info on the official forum but I get nothing related to deposit bonus. If it is true then it is what is special thing on Stake, they always give surprise for all their players.

In the future if you ever get such emails from anything related to Crypto, never click the link inside the email. This promotion seems legit because its for a small sum but if it was for a large sum then I would be wary.

Basically there were many bitcoin sites that were hacked in the past like Bitmain, Bitcointalk forum, exchanges, etc and many emails were leaked. And scammer usually send these phishing emails to people, hoping to find someone that uses the current website in the email and present them with a fake phishing link to accept the offer. Then they usually ask for username, password, and 2FA and then your account gets drained.

So in the future you should never click any links unless you are unsure. I got one of these emails about a couple weeks ago for some Stellar Lumens airdrop which never happened.

Email phishing attempts have been around far longer than crypto has been around, even before 2008 there was people getting emails of users from some websites (lets be honest 10-20 years ago security wasn't as good as today) and than posed as that website with some @ending.com that looked like actually the website and people clicked and signed in and realized they couldn't, at that moment the hacker would just get it and than use it to sign in from the real place and just took out everything that person had.

Thankfully there is now 2fa and sms and other stuff that keeps your stuff safe, that way you can be gullible and give your password to people but at least will be a bit more safe thanks to 2FA like stuff, you can still be hacked if the hacker is online and asks for your 2FA looking like real website and than use it for the original website at the same time but that is highly unlikely and very difficult.

I also do not get any such promotion email and this is not being told in telegram or here on this thread. Most of the time such emails are phishing ones and they take you to the scam sites which seems similar to the original site and you put your original password on those scam sites.

Not a vip but also received the small deposit bonus message and it's most likely legit since most of the messages that i've been receiving are coming from their automated mail.  On the next day I was offered to join the vip but I haven't decided yet if i'll join or not.

2FA generally helps you when you get some malware or virus on your computer and the hacker has your username and password. They can't login because they don't have the correct 2FA.

Phishing sites are different. With a Phishing site if you think its a real site you will send your username, password and when asked for 2FA you will send it also since it usually asks for 2FA when logging in. Then depending on which casino site you are talking about , some have additional layer of 2FA where they ask for another 2FA code or the site admin might flag the withdraw if its going to a different BTC withdraw access and coming from a different IP from a different country.

One way to tell if you got a phishing site or not is just put in a fake username and fake password and if it asks for 2FA then its most likely a fake site. This is why its best to bookmark your casino links and never click any links in email.

That email from Stake was most likely not a fake email because it seemed like a "fair" promotion. If the promotion was something like "Send 0.01 BTC and get back 1.00 BTC" then it should be common sense to most that its a scam. Similiar to all those fake twitter posts.

From what i've read about their vip ranks there's no disadvantage they even gave me a $20 coupon but in order to become a vip you need to reach a specific wagered amount.

I don't gamble very often on casinos that's why I said it, It might be a waste now since i'm not always active but could be helpful in the future since they'll be having a sportsbook.

True we should not force ourselves just to be VIP, just play normally like what we usually do and if we reach the minimum requirement for the VIP then lets just call it as a bonus. But now the VIP bonus condition is changed since few weeks ago, as it now based on our last week activity while it was fixed no matter how much we have wagered during the week.
