Trading altcoin and holding bitcoin which one is more profitable?

I have come to realize in recent time that holding bitcoin in ones wallet is more profitable and a little bit risk free as compared to trading altcoin or what do you think ?

There is not a definite answer for this, if you are good at trading then trading altcoins is without a doubt a better business but if you suck at trading like most people then it is easier to buy bitcoin and hold it and obtain more profits than what you could have got in trading.

Yes, altcoin trading will be profitable only for the right traders but holding bitcoin will be definite profitable for anyone. Like many people here I am also doing both of these as I allocate some funds for risking with altcoin trading and obviously I am loving to hold my bitcoin saving for long haul. Compared to my altcoin trading, holding bitcoin is more profitable in recent times.

Yes it might profitable in some cases when you cannot effort high price of bitcoin then go for ETH earn from there then invest into bitcoin but somehow it is wrong concept if you want to go for bitcoin then directly buy some bitcoin then your price will become very high so I would like to say that you should need to understand the situation.

Yep, why to go long way when you can directly approach bitcoins. It is far better and comprehensible to directly invest into bitcoins even if the investment is very small. Besides in the current situation, we need to understand that bitcoins should no longer be used for daily trading. Treat them as long term holdings and use altcoins for trading.

You should hold bitcoin, but patience and emotion control needed. I didn't recommend to trading altcoin but if you want, please hold it like btc ( long time period ). For me, trading is more difficult than investment and most people loss with that option. Besides that, btc price action history and volume always raise up than another coin. not all altcoins are good for holding though. Some are short lived and if you don't exit at the right time, you're money's going to be wasted. For btc, well yeah holding is the wisest thing to do. We don't really know until what price is btc going to end up, but looking at the current happenings, it may still have a long way to go so holding is a lot better and profitable

Agree that some altcoins only have once or twice that pump dump possible,sometimes after it dumps, it can't no longer recover. For there too many alts that can be a replacement unlike in btc. Btc uses often and once it dump a big pump can happen. So when it dump ,many grab the chance to buy some.

There are really some altcoins who is also worth to hold for long term providing some of them already established a good volume on daily basis. It's just a matter of self research on what those coins should be hold for long.

Well it actually both are profitable in their own way, and yes bitcoin can be profitable by just holding them in your secured wallet and profitable at the same time and of course it would be less risky if you have stored your wallet in the most secured possible way. Its not actually risk free even holding bitcoin on your own wallet for a long time since the risk of price decrease is always there and cant really be remove but it is somehow much better than actively trading on altcoin.
When it comes to to short term profits I would go for trading on altcoin which we can able to select wide variety of coins in the market on which we would really able to see which coins do move actively on a short period of time.

Do not get me wrong, holding some of the top 10 altcoins for a year or two is fine but the only coin that I’m willing to hold for a decade or more is bitcoin since I think it is the only one that is guaranteed it will have value in the future, the rest of the altcoins I’m not so sure.

Trading and holding both are great but vary person to person. Trading does not suit everyone. Some people are not designed to carry on trading but others have very good understanding of trading. As far as holding is concerned, it is kind of better than investing because of little risk it offers.

Yes i agree 100% with you, i used to do daily trade a few months ago. But i got tired of it, i had to stay the whole day in front of the computer so i could see the charts, i was so tired of it, and i only made 2% or 1% a day (if it was a lucky day)
But now i prefer holding , it is more simple, just look for a good coin, invest and one day maybe you wake up and see that your coin has been pumped for 50%

In some case like 0x project and district0x that gives you a lot of return just on some days after you already participated in the crowdsale. I can say that really profitable to choose or invest in the right place.
My friends gets over 10x return just invest in 0x project.

I think its better if you trade altcoins and hold bitcoins . Because if you do that they have possible you will earn a lot of profit in the future. Its better if you have plan A and plan B. If bitcoin proce decrease you have support your altcoin and what if the altcoins decrease thatyou have you have bitcoin to support for the lose. But its up to you what do you think is less risk . But for me both is good.
