The answer is quite simple though. Since people are still using PD2 (so it is not "thrown away"). If someone has to explain this to you, well, let it be so! Just think about it as a source of income which generates a flow of cash into your pockets (while PD3 doesn't yet)...

Those odds are roughly the same as rolling 20 or so reds in a row on a 50/50 game, happens a lot.
Lots of players with many bets will come across streaks like this more than once, you just happened to be unlucky. With 600M+ bets, it's likely theres streaks much higher and worse than yours, possible as high as 500 losses in a row on 10%. It's just how probability works.
