John Macafee claim of $500k by 2020 quite possibly can become a reality. The reason being the availability of huge potential market which with increased awareness recently has started being targeted. Bitcoin has the potential to target Billions of internet users if advertised or propagated properly. With some millions of users (<100 million), Bitcoin already reached $4k. There is a huge chance that with some 100 millions users, price would touch $500k.

Well yes given the long term horizon of 5 years I see btc may be somewhere above 25000$ or so. But in couple of year 500000$ is weird considering the altcoins coming in market are also started to capture a bit of market. And the pace at which technology is changing in next 5-10 years there would be something new and better than btc may come up which will eat away btc market if people like that thing more. So price may drop at that time.


But if it reaches this mark by 2020 everybody who owns it will be super happy .

Yeah that price is unreachable I do not think we are going to even get to 10% of that price I think a range between 10000 dollars to 25000 dollars seems a lot more realistic to me.

Sad to say but that's quite impossible for that short period of time. Two to three years I think, won't be enough for Bitcoin to reach and amount of that high. But I'm not saying that Bitcoin won't be able to reach that. Maybe in the future, Bitcoin will be able to be priced at that high, but it will take more years for it to happen. Hoping that Bitcoin will be more successful in the next years to come.

Yes I agree with your point. Since the price of bitcoin is raising day to day.Yesterday the price of bitcoin is around 4300$.Today the price is crossed of 4400$.Tomorrow it may reach of 4500- 4700$.Then sure bitcoin will go to 500000$ in 2020.That's the power bitcoin has.

It's totally ludicrous to believe it would happen, but I think it can happen and there is really no stopping bitcoins from reaching said amount. It may be high as fuck but who knows it might reach it. We just need a lot more adoption for it to happen. That's three years away but if the growth of adoption grows exponentially each day then it could be possible.

It's not mother nature to happen something magically suddenly. For me every person who says that bitcoin will reach 100,000$ or something similar, is just dreamer who knows nothing about bitcoin and crypto world. Then if anyone believes btc will reach 500K, sell your house, get max loan and buy bitcoins immediately, you will be richer than current USA president.

10,000 by 2020 is perfectly reasonable and reachable if we look at the history of bitcoin, it is not a crazy prediction at all. 10,000 could very well be reached by 2019 I think. My guess is that Bitcoin will see its peak in two or three years, then many investors will sell at 10,000. Bitcoin should remain between 8000 and 10 000 for a while in 2019.

500,000$ is so insane thought and we can't really expect that to came easily since bitcoins are not a ponzi coins which no downs like The billion coins introduce to there fool supporters but the decent way to speculate for that month to came is maybe lesser more with that and maybe 10,000-20,000 will be the decent numbers for this to come by 2020.

The main point John Mcafee is raising is the potential not that he knows absolute values at that date.   This exact price is unlikely unless US dollar suffers the loss of its status as the world main reserve currency.    In that scenario value drops substantially allowing the nominal price of bitcoin and many products to rise, value then will not equate to a 2017 figure $500k

i agree with the fact that bitcoin will go to 500000 usd, but i cannot say it with the time frame, since we cannot tell what will be going on before 2020, i think if all news we receive will be positive, i think bitcoin might hit the 500000 usd mark, however we cannot say it for the bashers of bitcoin, since they will always capitalize on the negative news that they will hear, just like what had happened during china's banning of bitcoin, we cannot tell if another scenario might arise, but for sure, bitcoin can overcome it over and over again. i think he said that, probably because of the fact that a lot of people are already accepting bitcoin and some are even creating their own crypto coin, hopefully the run will still move smoothly for bitcoin, and in that time bitcoin  had reach 500000 usd, it is already considered very high and hopefully for us, we already have a lot of bitcoins with us, since we cannot control the rise of bitcoin. his statement will surely bring light to all those who sill don't believe in bitcoin, since it shows its legality and legitimacy.

I know that bitcoin can go up even more but no one knows on how much value it can  reach. lets see what happen till 2020 as its been 3 years to that time. May b it reached there if bitcoin is adopted as world currency by all countries and no banning occur as China did that in this year. I dont think price of bitcoin will reach 500k dollars in 2020 or even after fee decades it will not happrn because that price is very high and I think it is very impossible. Maybe the price become 50k dollars and thats the highest price of bitcoin so if you have a lot of bitcoin you can earn a lot of profit in the future. But it depends on the demand on the market if the price decrease or increase.

How can anyone ever be THAT sure? 2020 is a very short time for bitcoin to go that high, and, even if, theoretically, it did, then it would be for a very short while, due to an overbought trend, and will start dropping like hell, that too very rapidly. It would become very unstable as a currency which would result in mass decline, so I think that it better not go anywhere near that value in such less time, for it's own sake. A gradual, slow rise is much more beneficial to itself.

Even though we cannot predict the future but I feel that is quite a very huge amount in the next 3 years. I cannot imagine the level of adoption that will cause such a huge spike in just that few period no matter how huge investors pull in unless of course we have the whole world trying to rush in at the same time, so as to have a little piece of the cake before it stabilizes a bit and that surely will be a massive growth.

So you are seriously saying that the price will be half million dollars in just three years? well.. good luck with reaching that goal, i think that if the price gets over $15k, then we will really be in a bubble that is going to explode, and you are thinking about seeing bitcoin at 1/2 million? this is insane, how do you think it is possible? the market cap would be huge if that happens.
Just do this math: 21.000.000 x $500.000, and this will give you the answer (obviously impossible to happen)
