Australian code been hashing since 14-May Smiley
cgminer next release will support them automatically (it already does in git)

With current 3.1.1 you need either
 --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing short
OR
 --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100
N.B. the 3.0 will depend on your chips performance but it wont slow anything down (or hash less) if it is wrong, it will just not report the correct MH/s
The 100 ensures it will hash at full speed.

(Edit: forgot to add of course you need -S device for 3.1.1 for each device also e.g. -S COM1 or -S /dev/ttyUSB0)
And to repeat: next release of cgminer will find them automatically (and also allow hotplug of them)

Also note that temperature is important with these devices.
Mine doesn't have a heat sink and gets between 1% and 1.5% errors with ambient low 20'sC
If you are noticing even 1% errors, cooling it down will almost certainly reduce that.

My recent post about them Smiley

I've said it before: 0.5BTC or under and maybe we'll talk. 2BTC is just ridiculous.

I agree, massively overpriced

Now that the order limit has been lowered to 50, is there interest in a Group Buy based in the Western US?  It would be run similar to CanaryInTheMine's at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217981.0 but restricted to US orders only.  The cost would be a flat BTC2.1 per USB miner.  They would be shipped by Priority Mail.  I'm based in southern California, so orders from the western US would arrive earliest.  Orders would be collected using a Google Doc form such as https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1BuuD7-o_rmz1hIJrLrBstewoRD_iWt2wrEFiKCpadsA/viewform.  Reply or PM if you are interested, and if there is enough interest I will open it up.

Is there any benefit to using a USB 3.0 hub or is a USB 2.0 hub sufficient?

I understand that 500 mA must be provided to each miner. Does anyone have a suggestion for the best powered hub to use for multiple USB Erupter mining?

No benefit to using a 3.0 hub over a 2.0 hub. Sufficient power to each port is what is critical and the USB 3.0 spec does not specify 500mA minimum as a standard.

... and not yet clarified possible issues with USB 3.0 ...
i.e. a few people have seen problems, and I for one, have not looked into it yet to find out what the problems might be.

a bunch of people have received units, check the various group buy threads for pics. there are probably a few thousand out in the wild already.

No longer buying/selling Casascius coins. Beware scammers.
