The reason why I am picking SF HARD!!!
Other than the 0-3 starts by the Giants, Redskins and Steelers,
perhaps the most perplexing beginning to the 2013 season has been
the recent fall from grace by the 49ers. Picked by many to win the
Super Bowl this year after falling just short against the Ravens in SB
XLVII last season, San Francisco rides a 2-game losing streak into St.
Louis for this important division duel Thursday evening in a matchup
of rivals sporting identical 1-2 records. Head coach Jim Harbaugh’s 2-0
SUATS mark on the road in games off a loss, by a combined score of
47-8, speaks volumes of his disdain for losing. As does his penchant
in exacting revenge for Niners’ losses from earlier meetings where
he is 12-6-1 ATS, including 4-0-1 ATS versus foes with losing records.
The cause for concern, however, is two-fold. One: Harbaugh has
cleaned up in non-division play in the NFL (20-6-1 ATS) but struggled
in games against the NFC West (4-9 ATS), and Two: Rams head coach
Jeff Fisher is the best underdog coach in the league at 86-55-1 ATS
– including 15-6 ATS versus an opponent off back-to-back losses –
albeit 0-2 this season. So who takes the hat trick tonight? The fact
that St. Louis captured the NFC West last year thanks to a tie and a
win over Frisco, is indeed an added ulterior motive for Harbaugh in
this contest. Toss in Louie’s lousy 1-11 ATS mark in games against
division opponents off a loss with revenge and with it Fisher falls to
0-3 ATS as a dog this season. Just like that, Harbaugh shoots… and he
scores. The Clincher: the 49ers are 10-0 ATS in division games
with revenge against an opponent off a pair of losses.
