Here is a friendly advice to all the "OMG THIS COIN IS DEAD BECAUSE NO EXCHANGE" posters. If you desperately need a few bucks, don't wait for this coin to hit the exchange. You can make them faster by going into the next park and collecting empty plastic bottles. Return them to the shop and collect the deposit. Seriously, you will get some fresh air into your lungs and it helps the brain as well. You'll feel much better because you have really contributed something meaningful to society.

why today such high difficulty?

Because someone hired the nicehash botnet and then stopped before the difficulty exploded. Now the permanent miners pay the price for those grabbed coins, because the difficulty adjustment is incredibly slow and delayed. Currently it takes 9 hours for 20 blocks to be mined. It should be 1 hour. So the miners receive 9 times less coins than they should. Read through the last two months of this thread. Old problem.

Who drives the difficulty of the coin? Are there any other pools?

No, the attack happened like always through the mine77 pool. The owner obviously doesn't care as he explicitely invites the bots by offering them a dedicated port.

Port: 8888
SSL/TLS Port: 8899
Fixed Difficulty: 400000
Description: NiceHash

The 5 blocks missing on mine77 are on irdpool:

So there is no other hashrate and no other pools effectively contributing at the moment.

The 20kH/s on mine77 and the 5kH/s on irdpool are now wasting their electricity to bring down the difficulty to the correct level. It will take several days.
Once it is down again, the idiot with the nicehash botnet will come again and rape the chain.

If you scroll back through the blocks history you will see how the blocks were flying yesterday, basically 60 blocks per hour and more.

@devs: Instead of switching to the DAA which Masari implemented, which is the one that Sumokoin implemented, what about using the one which Bitcoin Cash implemented recently? The Masari/Sumokoin one is good at adjusting up quickly when an instamining attack starts, but it is pretty bad then at adjusting down again, i.e. it leaves the difficulty high way too long after the attack stopped despite blocks being very very slow. Almost as bad as the original one Iridium still is using. The BCH DAA was thoroughly tested in many simulations and should work well.

Selling my 25000 IRD for 0.5$ each, lol

I mined DCR from the launch and when it hit the first exchange very soon afterwards it had immediately a value of $0.5 and this was in Feb. 2016 and hence long before the Spring 2016 and then Spring 2017 price explosion of crypto in general.
Today it passed $60. I mined thousands of DCR in the first few months. Of course I sold off steadily during 2017, otherwise the coins mined then would have made me half a million USD today. Only to show an example of what is realistic and to shut up the whiners with their COIN IS DEAD idiocy. Everyone can go to the DCR thread and see how the same kind of people spammed it with the exact same COIN IS DEAD messages for the entire year of 2016. Some of them are literally obsessed with posting such crap, they have no life. Like some autists posting the same dumb message over and over for months.

I barely got to mine 1,000 IRD but I like the specs of the coin, it has lots of potential if people would take interest in it, but sadly with all this hashrate drama no one will want to suport a coin where a whale is making mining unfair, specially when mining is the ONLY way to generate coins. I don't know how to contribute but I think the only thing to do is change the algo structure of the coin and take it from there.

Currently a total of 35kH/s fighting against a difficulty of 41.7M. With 35kH/s and 180s desired block time the difficulty should be around 6.3M or 6.6x smaller than it is now.
With 20 blocks in 10 hours (instead of 1 hour) the blocks come actually 10x slower (not 6.6x) but this is due to the additional bad luck streak of mine77, see above.

If you think we can do half as well as SIGT – the only other mainstream no-premine altcoin in the last couple quarters (I think it’s fair to call us mainstream at 50+ forum pages) – then we would get a market cap of US$1.3 million in the short term.  That means price will eventually be close to $1/IRD, but it won’t launch like that.  Expect it to launch much lower (maybe 50 cents/ IRD) especially if it launches on a low volume exchange like SouthXchange, and build up to $1/IRD over a few months.

I think this is reasonable because we don't have any of the drama around SIGT and we definitely have as-strong or stronger community, but we don't have a flashy new algo.  So saying we can do half their market cap in a few months seems like a reasonable way to get low-end estimate of potential (and I'm suggesting we will launch at half of that potential, so 50 cents/IRD).

Agreed.  Jump on the discord.  You sound reasonable.

Where is the mistake? And how to fix it?

Reasonable? He sounds too much optimistic imho

The main problem for reaching high price that our single feature (comparable to Monero) is low supply.
We need real technological superiority, not speculatory
