**** If you click "download" on any ROM(s) I post from pastebin.com then "save as" a .uue file then extract the compressed .7z archive with WinRAR, WinZip, etc.. and the bios_file.rom will be inside the .7z

I've modded the ROM on my Gigabyte RX580-4GB with Elpida memory. GPU underclock, VRAM overclock, lowered Voltage offset and patched brand performance specific straps.

30 MH/s ETH
830 H/s XMR @ 90W (gpuz)

Gigabyte RX580-4GB (Elpida) Mining BIOS
Gigabyte RX580-4GB (Elpida) Mining BIOS v2 *** fixed TRCDR/TRCDRA

If you've got any mod requests I think I can mod most RX cards.

UPDATE:

It seems not all Gigabyte RX580-4GB cards are made the same, I had one card start putting out hardware errors running the VRAM at 2000. So I made this new ROM that runs the memory slower, much slower. Good news I saved 10W on power, bad news it hashes at only 700 H/s.

Post your bios and I'll mod it, maybe the new drivers will like a modded bios better.

You are talking about flashing to the GPU itself, yes? If so, how is that done in such a way that the CPU does not overwrite your changes, or is that something that the CPU tries to do? I have never really done more with GPU than alter the DLL's to a certain degree. I assume that the system has a way that it updates the firmware on a regular basis without us paying attention.

@notbatman
hey, am really not pulling your leg. I have nothing but respect for you and your work.
Are you saying gpu-z is wrong when reporting that my card has hynix mem instead of the samsung?
why do you find it hard to believe the card exists?

I also noticed this from your earlier posting:
GV-RX580XTRAORUS-8GD/F2/0540 (C) 1988-2010, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
My card has this from your latest posting:
GV-RX580AORUS-8GD/F4/0529 (C) 1988-2010, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Notice, no XTR? could mean they used hynix mems.

@whatomine
glad to finally find someone with the same card! I will try to lower voltages just like your bios.
can you please share your original bios and your modified bios just in case I screw up?
Whats your ambient temp? What card temps are you getting at 117W?
To be clear, voltages are set at card bios? you are not undervolting via trixx? or undervolt via MSI AB?
what settings did you set in MSI AB? just fans? or core and mem clock?
what settings did you set in claymore?
Are you on win10pro?
Are you using the latest blockchain drivers?
What version of MSI AB are you using?

thanks.

Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. In the zar file you will find the original and the two modded roms. The rom that I'm currently using is the one ended with 900mV. I'm using Win10 pro(not activated), claymore 10.0, AMD blockchain driver Aug 23rd, and MSI AB beta 16. Both core and mem voltages of my card are set in the bat file. I'm using MSI AB only to set the fan speed because I found Claymore somehow ignore all of the fan setting I put it in the bat file. One trick for the fan setting with AB is to unsyn all card setting and set each of them to the default mem-core speed then apply the fan-speed one by one. My card runs about 59-61C- 29.2 Mh/s at 1150-2050 settings and it draws 117W dual-mining and 86W ether only. Your card may run hotter because i'm from Illinois and it is pretty cool this time of the year.

I use the highlighted strap for my Samsung cards if that helps.

The highlighted strap did not work for the Powercolor golden devil RX580 8gb. I tried to copy that strap over the 1750 and 2000 of the first timing bands and 1750-2000-2250 of the second bands but the card give me the blue screen at 1050-2100 core and mem speed. Using a different rom, this card currently gives me 29.1 Mh/s on ether solo with some memory errors. Can you take a look at the rom and improve it further. it is the best if it can run at 2150 or 2200 without  memory errors. Thank you

My latest acquisition is an MSI RX570-4GB Gaming X card.

My first observation out of the box was there's no backplate.  Cry

Hashes at 570 H/s XMR with the stock bios.

Suck-ass so far. I'll update this post with a mod bios and hash numbers...

edit:

First test run using the stock 2000 straps (Elpida), .88V core and mem, 1100 core:

615 H/s XMR

edit2:

Tested mining straps with the above framework:

774 H/s XMR

Getting better... I noticed the quality of the card is excellent and the parts are of high tolerance.

edit3:

MSI-RX570-4GB-MINING_BIOS

edit4:

I get the odd HW error with this BIOS, not enough that I care to make a V2 right now though. Maybe later...

Is that true that you can't mine with cards <3gb ram ?

3 GB is OK to mine all the GPU based algos.

If you're mining ETH or ETC the DAG file is too big to fit into cards with 2GB or less so you're SOL on those coins. With newer Ethereum clones such as MUSIC or EXP they still have a small DAG so you're OK to mine those. Coins like XMR or ZEC have no such limitations and you're also good to mine those on 2GB or smaller cards.

Has anyone tried PBEv1.6.3?
https://github.com/jaschaknack/PolarisBiosEditor
Timing modification (Ubermix 3.1) starts now at 1500 instead of 1750.

My MSI rx580 gaming x (sk hynix H5GQ8H24MJ) modded with v1.6.2 does not go any further: ~27.5MH/s ETH, ~700 H/s XMR, ~320 H/s ZEC
I can not overclock the ram over 2020Mhz without errors, but it is stable.

Would be safe to try straps of v1.6.3 on my card?
