Yesterday we had a very important day! Though it was actually the day before but we are just getting to share the news. BioCoin was created to be an effective instrument for revival of local business and development of local societies and territories. And in that it is easily integrated into all of the projects of LavkaLavka as well as our Territories Development Fund Big Land. In 2015 we went to Teriberka that after the “Leviathan” movie became the quintessence of the Russian sadness and hopelessness. A lot has been told about our activities there.
At first our civic engagement on our knees brought us to the festival of territory development. And something started to move slowly, turn around here. Teriberka came alive. We gained experience, the festival turned into a constantly working group that united us with architects, sociologists, economists, Urbanists and other concerned and caring civil activists. We started to work on methodologies of steady territories development, indices of steady development. A center of expertise for rural and suburban territories development had began to develop there within the frames of the ANO Big Land.
And there was that important day. Big Land received an official order from the administration of Murmansk region to create a master plan for Teriberka development. This will be first Russian experience of creating a full development plan of rural territories that will be based on principles of steady development.
And we are not talking about architecture or urban design. To be specific, it is not just about that. We firstly will work on social, economic, ecological aspects of harmonious development of the space. That is about a man, active local society, social environment, business, culture, nature. Urban design and architecture will be there as well but only as adequate answers to substantial requests based on main direction development. Our goal is not only to create mechanisms of steady development of Teriberka, but also to create in the Big Land a working methodology that will help bringing alive the most distant (and not so) places and regions of Russia.
Teriberka is not our only direction, we have already started our work in the Jewish Autonomous Region (last place in the rating of development of the Russian regions). And few more interesting territories are currently under our development.
We live in the largest country in the world. However, it is just a phrase from a textbook for all of us. Turkish shores, European capital cities and beaches of Thailand become closer to us than almost any of the regions of our own country. We at Big Land wish that we as citizens of Russia, learn how to use in full something that undeniably belongs to us, our great space around us. «Our country” should stop being just some semantic abstraction. We need to give back the true meaning to the word “ours”. “Ours” means that we have all the rights to use our own country in all its incredible and beautiful dimensions, however simultaneously we bear responsibility for this country. Any right and property is first of all a responsibility. So, the goal of the Big Land is to create steady mechanisms that will revive the responsibility for the environment around us. Once we have that responsibility then everything else will come along.
Big Land, LavkaLavka, BioCoin, biologists, sociologists, economists are all going to Teriberka on January 11th. They are going there to take everything that had been done and talked about for the past few years and create a well built and working mechanism of territories development that could be used and replicated all around the country.
So, it was an important day. It is time to return this land to us.
