Ledger's first unsuccessful attempt to provide a BTG wallet suggested a tx fee of a couple dollars to send BTG.  Their revised BTG wallet (chrome app) suggested a tx fee of one penny to send the same amount of BTG.  Does anyone know how to estimate a reasonable fee to send BTG?

Bitcoin Gold? What the heck is that? I've never heard of it before. Btw, on marketcoincap, BTG is assigned to Bitgem.

Bitcoin Gold is a fork of bitcoin just like Bitcoin Cash. One of the notable changes is that they have changed algorithm to Equihash which makes it asic resistance and its a memory intensive algorithm. The idea is to bring back GPU mining plus some other changes.

BTG is 100% at fault, I knew that was going to happen, I put a bit of BTC in an account and only used there onsite part where you put the info in, gave what ever it asked for just too get my info, if I did not give my privet key how was I going to get my BTG key to clam?, and sure enough its gone, no big deal on my end it was a test, I don't care what anyone says, if it says it safe and its on the main site where you enter the info, then its on them, I did that just to test, they could of made a keygen for offline, they know what they where doing, and crypto or not, there will be a day when all this will have an out come, you just cant think you can take that much money and in the long term get away with it, I am looking at it like long term full adoption for crypto, and that will never happen as long as others can get away with this. And I was really excited for a GPU only BTC chain. I did not go to any extranl link and went to the site from marketcap, I wanted to be 100% sure...  There is no need to try to find out who did it and where to press charges, you already know who it was..

Is that the real team on the site? thats alot of money that was taken from some people....

Well, it's the Internet after all. And when I claim I'm Santa Claus certainly someone will send my their wish lists for next month. So what?

If you were so silly to send out your private key, you were just that, silly.

I really dont understand why anyone would continue with BTG. Is it just about speculation or is there some sort of benifit that BTG has over BTH and BTC?

BTG scammed me into trusting MyBTGwallet to reclaim my BTG and they have now stolen my coins! Beware people

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DO3y97LWkAIOm4I?format=jpg&name=large

Really sloppy on BTG side, but they aren't the ones scamming. The team is well intentioned IMO, just understaffed, bad communicators, and under-resourced. There has been a litany of attacks to try to kill the BTG project. I think best to stay away until the dust settles. There will be opportunity to claim into legit wallets (heard Trezor is working on support) soon.

I agree. I think Bitcoin Cash taught us to be patient, but Bitcoin Gold proved that a fork isn't as simple as some people would be led to believe. Now I don't think they are outright scammers, but they definitely aren't saints. They had a plan to make money (I mean, the premine is as clear as it gets) and they've done it. I do think maybe one or two had the ideology, but the rest are no different from the typical money grabbing mindset we've come to see with miners.

Stay away from now, yes. Let the drama settle, let angry people simmer. It's probably got a long shelf life, BTG.

the main advantage is ,its like btc but is resistant to a few  asic farms controlling 100% of the mining

eth and zec use the same type of algorythim

Another fork. Each year the chain is divided several times. As they say: play divide and conquer. I do not recommend buying BTG. Although in principle you can earn on BTG in the future

Has anyone had any luck sweeping multisig private keys into Bitcoin Gold Core wallet on windows?

After endless rescans and imports, the addresses show up in receiving tab but no BTG in the wallet. The addresses imported show a positive balance on the Bitcoingold.org explorer and the BTG addresses show no sign of moving on the btgexplorer.com site.

 Huh

Maybe there will be a problem in the future beacuse of the centralization of 1000s of asics in big mining centers that will people want to profit from BTC in a more decentralized way, then BTG could get a chance. The thing that it's GPU mineable makes it different and maybe people will buy it because of this feature.

If you were so silly to send out your private key, you were just that, silly.

LMFAO

Lets clam to be Bitcoin Claus, and for us to give out gifts we need evenone to put there privet key in to clam the gifts, but they cant do it offline, well at lest not right away, and we will let everyone know there maybe a way to do it offline, but after everyone dose it online on are site...
Just because you have your privet key dose not mean you can clam your coins with the BTG wallet, your coins are not kept with your privet key with a fork, other wise a fork that changes addresses would be safe to spend right away,

Its your Public Key you need to keep, not your Address or your Private Key, its your Public Key that stays the same, but you cant get your new Private Key with out your old one.
nothing with crypto is done with your Private anything, only you need your Privates, the Devs and anyone else can do all the need with any Public info,
If anything they could of brought a new awareness to the community and had a Public Key on site to view if you had coins..
So just because you have your Private Key, dose not mean you can clam your free coins, you need to have you new Private Key that matches your old Public Key,

Everyone need to stop making excuses for those we put trust in, I think crypto as long term, full adoption, and if my parents can't learn to use and trust it this is all doomed, there are much older people in charge of some very big things.  Just wait for my ICO.

They 100% know what they where doing when they did what they did, other wise there would not of been a place to see or clam your new Private Key,
It would of been put your address in and vew only what you will get latter and not even have a way to view you new Private Key, and also let everyone know there will be a offline keygen for everyone to grab, you can grab one now,

In fact all they had to do was, drect everyone to go here to download this keygen offline,
https://coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html
and give directions to get your BTG keys, and not even have anything on there site or have anything of there's to even put any BTC info in,
I had my BTG keys before that was even put on there site, in fact they needed them to except it before they could even know what the keys where going to be. you need a Derivation Path to know where the "fork" "keys" are "in simple words" going to end up or lead too,
And the BTG team has no extra work or anything to do, its all done for then already, and can be done offline,

If you owe crypto, then you should own a crappie offline laptop and a thumb drive... super easy....  And should be common knowledge.

So kraken wont give away bitcoin gold if you were holding BTC on their site, that sucks and i think they should do it otherwise people will start choosing other exchanges.

 Huh

unfortunately your not going to get your BTG coins like that,
I don't think the wallet has been that updated and tweaked for that to work,
I maybe wrong..

this is how you get your coins...
you need to download
https://coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html
Use only it offline on a computer you do not plan to put online,
Then put your seed, xpub, what ever you need to find your address under bitcoin,
Find the Derivation or anything else you need to find your info, once you have located where you account is in the keygen,
Then select the bitcoin gold as the coin in the dropdown box, and the info you need will be under the same spot as your BTC account and path was,

you will know if you have done it right and have the right account, because your Public Key will be the same but you will have a new BTG address and a new Private Key,

So for all those who say never use or give out your Private Key, have no clue how this all works, and what's going on, and have gotten there BTG coins fram an exchange, or have not gotten there BTG yet, or have no BTC to even clam BTG..

there is no way that no one was not going to put there Private Key in that keygen on that site, you could and it would give you the new address with out your new Private Key, and if you did not, all you could do is look how much you have and how much your losing as the price keeps dropping, I bet there dumping making other rush the get there new Private Key, so they can sell there BTG as they steal there BTC.

The price will go back up, once they have everyone BTC, and no one has any BTC left to buy any BTG, its your choice, not know what your doing get your Private Key and sell your BTG before the price drops to far, or just sit and hold your BTG, and wait until you have the knolage on how to get your coins safely,

BTG is 100% at falt by not passing down the knolage of how to get your BTG safly, and letting anyone get there priveit key off there keygen built into there site, I tested it and thats all I used and went to there site from marketcap, and the account i use the test with was was empyed, this team need to replace all lost funds, they laoud this to happen.

I did this knowing I would save more then I lost by selling off as soon as this happened, it was only like $5ish I lost, and if I decide I want BTG, I could always buy back in lower and have even more BTG then I started with

Edit

my bad I left out a step,

You need to change the Coin under Derivation Path, back to 0 once you have selected BTG,

So it will be 156 once you put it on BTG, del that and put 0 there, then it should work,

Sorry about that, its not everyday I have to do this and I try not to go the those sites

Thanks for the guide.

Here is a more detailed explanation with picture:

https://99bitcoins.com/how-to-claim-bitcoin-gold-btg-guide/

One thing I didn't understand from the process, when I was trying to search for my address at the bitcoin gold explorer I couldn't find it.

I used this explorer:

https://btgexplorer.com/

Which seems to be that it is not up to date, but I failed to find any other working bitcoin gold explorer, could someone put some light into it?
Thanks.
